corruption with labels?

There are many images in my catalog with incorrect labels, and I am not sure how this is occurring. By incorrect labels, I mean the images have labels that I have not assigned.

- The image will have many, many labels -- 60 or so. Maybe 10-15 of these are correct. The incorrect labels are random, and I can't imagine any way that I could be inadvertently assigning them.

- I map labels to keywords. If I look at the image keywords, the first keywords in the sequence are correct, then then the incorrect keywords begin.

- If I try to delete an incorrect keyword in the Details panel I often get an Access Violation (0) error.

- I compact my database regularly.

I'd be happy to provide affected images and/or my catalog to help troubleshoot this. I"m not familiar with Mantis but would also be happy to open a case there if that is what I should be doing.

Hi doug,

Have you checked already what is in the actual metadata of the file? PSU will import whatever is in the file and every dc keyword/LR hierarchical keyword/IPTC keyword will become catalog labels.

You can share a (link to) a sample file here to complete the topic.

Also, is this a converted IDimager database?

The incorrect keywords are in the image metadata. My database was imported from IDImager, and all of the affected images I have seen so far were initially in IDI (but so are the vast majority of my images).

I've attached an affected file; the keywords beginning with wieringa.julie are incorrect.

Doug, this file is not last written with PSU nor IDI.

Also, if I open the file in ExifTool, I do see a lot of keywords in the metadata. And yes, those will return in PSU. I think you've got some cleaning up to do. My thoughts now are that you were using delimited keywords in iDimager and that some other tool couldn't handle it. Am I in the right direction that you were using delimited keywords? If so, are you also using delimited keywords in PSU? If so, I highly advise against using delimited keywords. They are non-standard. Use Lightroom keywords instead. Lightroom keywords inherit the name from Lightroom because they first used them. Don't let than confuse you with thinking that Lightroom Keywords are for Lightroom users.

Again, your file was not last written with any of the IDimager products, so that leaves room to think that some other tool was used that could have messed your keywords up. Unfortunately, it's not possible for me to know what tool that was, but you may have an idea yourself.
