Versioning

Post by Roland »

Hi,
I am using PSU in combination with Capture One. Currently I am going to rework my workflow. The plan is to have the Original RAW files in the catalog as well as the processed jpgs. For this the jpgs should become the main version as they reflect the processed status and the RAW files should be version 1. The current situation is that I have jpgs stored on a NAS and already imported into the catalog while the corresponding RAW files are living on a different external hard drive. I made the following experience: The RAW files will not be handled as a version if I import them from the external hard drive although they have the same file name and "Apply versioning" is checked. To make them automatically to a version during import I first have to copy them into the folder on the NAS where the corresponding jpgs are stored. Is this an expected behaviour?

Thanks for any advice, Roland

I could be wrong but for versioning to work properly in Supreme, the versioned items need to be in either the same main folder or subfolders of the main version... so your RAW files should be in subfolders of your JPG files for the auto versioning to detect them by filename.

Hope this helps! - Andy.

Hi Andy, many thanks for your response.
This corresponds with my own observations, according to which I only get automatic versioning if the RAWs to be versioned are coming from the same folder as the already imported jpgs.
I would prefer it if I had the RAW files separated from the jpgs on another hard drive for safety reasons. But anyway, it is also not a big deal to have them together.
Thanks!

Glad to help Roland... confirmed they can be in a subfolder as well which is the method I have adopted for new imports and versioning.
