Not logged in and upgrade error

Post by boatbldr »

For many reasons I have only attempted the migration discussed in http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=22949 this month (I was away on business).

I have downloaded the 64 bit version and I am on Windows 8.1

I just tried to upgrade and I got the identical error message listed in this forum topic "Can't launch PSU - error message re database upgrade" http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=23007. The error message reads "Your database does not comply with the requirement: Your database needs upgrading and you are not successfully logged in as the administrator."

My registry structure was different from the one listed in the above forum post. I added "SkipLogin" to \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IDimager Systems, Inc.\IDI\Defaults (I also tried just the \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IDimager Systems, Inc.\IDI\ key without the "Defaults") but I did not get a password prompt.

Can someone tell me what I have done wrong please?

Hi Malcolm,

When you do an upgrade then the application requires that you successfully login as administrator. Make sure that you enter the admin password from your old IDimager database.

Hope that helps

HI Hert

It doesn't even stop to allow me to enter a password or userid - the error message appears and then the application disappears. How do I make the userid and prompt appear?

Hi Malcolm,

In your previous post you mentioned adding a SkipLogin key in the registry. Delete that key and you'll get a login dialog. Btw the topic you linked to in the opening post was about SQLite, not SQLServer.

If you can't get it to work then delete the complete IDI key and start over.

Still no luck Re: Not logged in and upgrade error

That did not help - still get the error.

I deleted the keys, then I uninstalled Photo Supreme, then I rebooted, then I re-installed Photo Supreme (being careful *not* to launch at the end of the install), then I erased the catalog and copied over the old V5 catalog, then I rebooted again, but got the same error.

What about changing the password of the new catalog to my old password first, before erasing it - would that help?

Workaround!

Post by boatbldr »

I found a workaround - I started Photo Supreme, and enabled "show login at startup" - then I deleted the new database, copied across the old database, and it then started the upgrade process for me.

Sorry for the confusion everyone!
