You Europeans are masters of understatement. Who else could have responded with "Certainly not months" while the ink was drying on the release notes ?

I manage a site which has a mix of Windows and Mac users. None of them yet use any sort of DAM. Is there / will there be / a way for both MacOS and Windows users to work together ?

Hert, I had a crack at installing this today.

Server is Win 2008R2, SQL2012 Express 64 bit.

SQL server is running OK, and I can connect to it via Management Studio. When I attempt to open the IdimagerSU.exe application nothing at all appears on screen. No trace of it in task manager either, and nothing in the logs indicating a crash.

I might try a server reboot this evening. But have you come across this or have any ideas ?

UAC is off, firewall disabled.

Hmm, not much comes o mind right now. I don't have Windows Server 2008 here to test it on (I run 2003). My first thought would be the OS. Maybe access rights?
You could alternatively install the sqlserver version of PSU on a client machine, then start it up and in the opening dialog, store the SQL script. Then make sure that the physical paths match those of the server (search the script for two locations where the path must be altered, one for the main db and one for the thumbs db). Then run the script on the server.

Maybe not much of a help, but just to be sure that everything works as expected, I did a complete clean install just now and the software did come up.

Could it be that the software showed a dialog that was hidden behind other forms? You mention that you checked the Task Manager, was that in the "Processes", because the opening dialog is displayed while Windows doesn't show the application yet in the start bar.

I also installed on Small Business Server 2008 - When Clicking on IDimager SU on the server (I installed it on the server - with Admin Permissions) itself nothing appears. Nothing in task manager.

What is the OSQL.EXE command line to run the install scripts - I see they need a database name and folder name variable ?

Also in the scripts I see that in the "2012" versions you are using the %filename as the name of the database file whereas in the in the other scripts you use a hard coded NAME = N'idimager_Data' as the name of the database.

The idimager_data is indeed not as planned, but isn't that important.

Please don't alter the script files manually. Best to install the SQLServer version on a client and generate the server script there.

Start the software on the client. It will ask you to create a new database. There, test the server connection and tick the checkbox in the lower left corner to only generate a script. Then use that script on the server to create the database. But make sure that the physical path entered for the database is a path on the server.

Apart from this, I'm still very curious why the software refuses to run under Windows Server 2008. Can you try to execute the idimagersu.exe file from a command box?

I am logged in as 'Administrator'. And I ran the Command prompt as Administrator just to be sure.

Hmm, could it be that DirectX is not installed?

Quite possibly. Wouldn't normally need that on a server so it may not be installed. Will check in the morning.

I installed DirectX on teh server and that didnt help.

I think it's something else anyway. I have PSU installed on my Win 8 PC and it works fine. I installed the SQL version (into a different program files folder)

The non-SQL version opens fine but the SQL version doesn't.

Exactly the same for me. Win8 Desktop - Normal Supreme runs perfectly - SQL Fails to start at all
