Does a win licence is ok also for Mac?

Post by mazzeip »

Hi,

I own a licence for PU (upgrade from IDimager 5), and I have also a Mac: can I use also the application on my Mac, and what can I do to activate my copy (placing the license file in the same folder of the app file doesn't work)?

Thanks, Paolo Mazzei

Paolo, you can't use a windows license with the Mac version. But you can exchange your windows license for a Mac license without additional cost. You then wont be able to use your license on Windows anymore. Send an email to support@idimager.com

No, I'd need both, I spend my time in Rome (where I have a win7 pc) and in Geneva (when I have a Mac). But of course it's reasonable... is there any discount for the owner of another license? And, most important, can I transfer back and forth my catalog from win to mac, using backup-restore or some other easy way (not the data embedded in the images)? Thanks again...

Hi Paolo,

The files were binary compatible in windows & mac os during the beta period; I moved them back & forth with no issues. I've not used the release version of PSU, so I can't vouch for it still working. I'm sure Hert will answer you.

George is correct. The files are exchangeable between Windows and Mac.

There's a 30% discount for registered users. Please contact support@idimager.com

So, just a clarification on this issue. I currently own IDI Premium and run it on a Windows 7 machine. If I upgrade to PS on this machine, but then get a Mac in the next few months, I can exchange my Windows license for a Mac license at no charge? And, the database will transfer from Windows to Mac?

Thanks

Is it possible then to share a database between Mac and Windows by opening and storing the database on a network share and storing all images on a network share as well?

The network share question is what I'm searching for...

My wife & I both store and access photos and need a shared catalogue. She's Windows, I'm Mac. Can we put the catalogue and photos on our NAS and have concurrent access?
