Re: when event date and file creation date are different...
I've understood and identified your proposal 2.
My concern was it would be more clear to me to search for a MOVE option versus a RENAME one in order to move a file (very clear with separate boxes for folder & renaming rules).
But ok, it works with renaming !

Re: when event date and file creation date are different...
1. Move the files to a temporary folder, rename them, delete the folder from catalog and then import from that folder again
Yes, and we can imagine an option for ingest process (called "move" : an alternative to "copy"?), assuming that files to be moved must be already ingested (rejected if not ...

Re: when event date and file creation date are different...
I've launched a first batch with your proposal, and wait for few days before having such experience on it (evaluate the risk to overwrite these dates...).
btw, changing these dates changes also both folder and name used for each files impacted by my renaming rule : the only way I've found to manage ...

Re: Rating & color label not ingested from NEF
I don't know why it works, but now it works !
and even if PSU not configured to write embedded metadata......is it possible? am I wrong?
I've worked a lot yesterday with this configuration, and experienced following workflow without any trouble :

The "convert metadata to XMP" is not available during ingest..

Re: Rating & color label not ingested from NEF
Thanks for clear explanations.
But considering my ingest process, it seems not yet working with the option ticked...
NB : I've restart my computer, try old NEF files, force PSU to read metadata from file (Ctrl+Alt+S), but without any change.
I've also check that rating & color label are properly ...

Re: Rating & color label not ingested from NEF
Very prompt anwser!
No I have'nt, believing this property only dedicated to write metadata into the file!
I've change it, close PSU and restart without any result.
By the way, if I check this option, does it mean that embedded metadata will be prefered any time to XMP sidecar (when not sync.)?

Rating & color label not ingested from NEF
Trying to import NEF files with PSU v2.2.5 1044, I've just notice that ratings & color labels previously assigned with ViewNX2 (v2.10) are not recognized by PSU through the ingest process : is it a standard way of working or do I make something wrong?

when event date and file creation date are different...
I have a lot of film-based photographies to digitize (scan or photo from photo), and I want to keep both origin date (the event in past) and digitalization date (file creation today) in metadata, being sure that any further modifications will not update them.

Re: renaming script
Than you very much Hert, and one step beyond (!) :
Assuming my renaming rule is now using some tests with, of course, some rejections (empty fields, unexpected values,...), it should be suitable to list them by 2 ways : 1/a log file, 2/a warning message at the end of import process.
Is it possible ...

Answer is clear : I will have to proceed in 2 steps (1/ingest, 2/rename)
Thank you very much.

Re: renaming script
Yes, I have to be more clear!
I want to append a trigramme representing the creator of the pictures to my renaming rule. And It's depending on the creator which has been already assigned (when ingesting files already tagged) or not (forbidden during the first ingest, or first import of new files ...

Re: renaming script
Thanks again, Hert, it works fine.
So, I've one question more (!) :
Can I use in the renaming script informations provided by the metadata profile which can be attached to the running import profile?
