My understanding of the process - I add a people label to a photo, and based on that label, the person's name should be automatically added to the "Person in the image" field for any photo which has been tagged with that label ...

Thanks to both of you. I am using a Mac. I have reset the sync settings, and the boxes are checked for the two settings related to writing people names to XMP, but the problem has not been solved.

How to most efficiently review and confirm all "unconfirmed" faces? I assume there is a better way than going photo by photo, right clicking on each face, and using the context menu, but I can't find it. Anything better?

I just tested this again, v2024.2, on a MacBook Pro 16". The scrolling issue has unfortunately not been fixed - even the slightest nudge on a trackpad causes a huge jump in scrolling (like "page down" as described above).

All of my other apps have the same scrolling feel, connected to the OS ...

I was using the latest version at the time I made the post (in Nov 2023). I was on a free trial and elected not to purchase the license for now (and this was one factor). Just wanted to give the feedback. Will re-evaluate during the next major release though as I liked a lot of things about the app.

In case it's still helpful, I experience this issue both with the MacBook trackpad, and the separate apple trackpad. Scroll settings do not affect the scroll speed of the application.
