Photo Supreme is currently report about 130,000 images. Half or more have version sets of 2-4 items and some a whole lot more. (Versioning was ON during my import phase). Estimate 250,000 - 300,000 total image files. All kinds of file formats JPG, TIF, PSD, RAW, RW2,RAF,PNG,NRW,MTS,HEIC, and more. Most of the images are averaging about 15 keywords. (Yes it is a mess).
My catalog is currently over 17.5 GB after compacting and will grow to over 19 GB. The thumbs database is a little over 48 GB.
I notice that removing items from the Catalog will send the -WAL file well over 1GB. I routinely see 1GB to 2GB and sometimes over 3 GB. These clear up as expected upon shutdown.
Is there anything that looks out of line here?
Thanks

Re: Catalog size sanity check.
Photo Supreme databases are huge and with they newer versions of the program have even grown substantially. My catalog database is almost 30GB, the thumbnail database almost 35 GB, 140,000+ images (comparable to yours). Almost all my files are versioned, I am using a huge amount of keywords mapped to metadata fields, which might explain why my catalog database is still substantially larger than yours. For the thumbnails, I am still using a relatively low preview quality of 1280 pixels at 85% quality. That might account for a smaller thumbnail catalog then yours.
I haven't really monitored what happens to the temporary files in the background when using the database, so I cannot say if 1 to 2 or even 3 GB is normal. I have PSU write metadata to the files immediately (auto-sync in preferences). It usually works well, but sometimes I need to monitor the sync process and when re-arranging labels with a huge amount of images, it is better to turn auto-sync off and sync manually when your done. But I honestly don't even know if the syncing possibly affects the size of these temporary files.
