Wrong timeline placement for DNG made from pano/hdr

Post by fabrizio.giudici »

I've noted that the Timeline view places DNG files created starting from original photos in the wrong day.

Example: photos taken on May 10. On May 11 I created a few DNGs (by using Capture One 22). The DNG are shown in the May 11 timeline instead of May 10 (as the original files). Looking at the filesystem/EXIF data (extracting them with exiftool):

Code: Select all

File Modification Date/Time : 2022:05:11 13:49:40+02:00
File Access Date/Time : 2022:05:12 13:00:46+02:00
File Inode Change Date/Time : 2022:05:12 13:00:44+02:00
Date Created : 2022:05:10
Digital Creation Date : 2022:05:10
Date/Time Original : 2022:05:10 14:34:34
Create Date : 2022:05:10 14:34:34
Date/Time Created : 2022:05:10 14:34:34
Digital Creation Date/Time : 2022:05:10 14:34:34
So it seems PhotoSupreme is using "File Modification Date/Time"... but I think EXIF Date Created or such should be used.

This is how the date for the time line is determined:

PS. PSU uses XMP as leading. Unfortunately not all tools out there write consistent metadata at all levels. If your XMP is out of sync with our other metadata (like Exif) then you can get unexpected result.
PSU can fix sunc metadata inconsistencies for you. Use right click -> Metadata -> Convert Metadata to XMP for that.
