There is this search script where the file should be a simple list of full file names (path+filename+extension)

Just plain and simple text.
One file per line

You can easily test it by:
1. selecting a few thumbs
2. right click on a selected thumb
3. select Run from Repository -> File System -> Copy Filename to Clipboard
4. Paste that to a text file
5. Save that text file
6. Run the "Collect Files from File" search script
7. Selected the saved file from step 5

Hi,
Thanks.

Your process works, but i do not see the interest in these case.

3. select Run from Repository -> File System -> Copy Filename to Clipboard
yes but all the filepath+filemane is copied.
The correct thing would be to find the photo only with the file name, nothing else.

When i "collect from the file", id don't work with the filemen only.
Do you thing is a another way ?
Thanks a lot

You mean that is how you would like it. The person who once requested this script wanted it with file paths. So many people so many wishes. That doesn't make it incorrect.

Either way, the script is updated and now the file can be either full file names (with path) or file names without path
Just try it again.

PS. anyone can create and alter scripts for their own requirements.

Hello

Hert,
You took it the wrong way, but for me, it's not nice to hear that I'm rude, when I was only proposing an idea. Even badly worded.
And I don't attribute people a bad mood remotely.

I'm not good at English, sorry.
Sorry if you took it the wrong way but my sentence was not intended to tell you "you must".
She meant "a good thing to do is to have only the name, only the name, without path".

I think we can move on now because this software has a lot of good assets, it's the main one.
I don't know these scripts in Pascal, only "regular expressions" for thumbs or batch processing for exemple.

I saw that you changed the script to have only the name. It works very well, thank you very much.

Hi,
But what is the use case for scenario with only filename?
With photo library, witout full size picture download and some people tell you 80 pictures for exemple.
for 5 ou 10 its easy, but for 80 is long :)
In all cases where only the filename is common.

I can expot a csv, so i convert it in plain text and its ok.

For my own selection i use the collections, very usefull by the way.

I think I can't understand what do you mean.
My catalog hast now about 200000 Pictures - from different cameras from last ~20 years. I never change filename that comes from camera - so I have thousands files with the same name like _rr00001 but it's not possible to have the same filename in same directory. I never edit my photos in PSU - C1, LR DxO or other specialized software and all this software needs to know where is file I wand to edit or print.
But i this case is the way different for me - I start new session in C1. Sort my new photos - give them Stars or "color marker - violet for reject". After I'm done I close my session and read C1 Session-database with my own script. At the End I have max 6 files - 1Star, 2stars..... 5stars, rejected. So I can collets this files in PSU and easy manage my metadata. But of course - for this way I need filename with path. :D

Hi,
In your case, you are in a internal process.

I spoke about external process, when my picture are on my online photolibrary or another DAM.
When my client tell me a list of picture, we use the mane, not the path.
I hope i'am clear :)

Hi Hert,

the script works graet, but has a small problem :). You can't see which files are not selected.
I just loaded a file with exactly 400 lines (400 Images) . But PSU shows only 382 images. So there are 18 images that PSU did not select. It would be nice to see which files it ignored and maybe why.

The script got updated to show the names of files not found in the catalog.

PS. Double click on the info-dialog's info-icon to copy the content to the Clipboard. That works for all info-dialogs in PSU
