Problems with synchronization

Post by yar »

After upgrading to PSU 2024.2.2.6668 (single user, Windows10) I experience the following problem: when PSU imports files to catalog the synchronization service finishes very quickly. However, after restarting PSU the synchronization service starts again and a message "Continue importing n files" appears on the screen. This happens also after next restart unless I manually synchronize all newly imported files.

If after importing files I apply labels or ratings and do not synchronize manually the changes are lost after next restart.

Does anybody experience similar problems?

If you get the "continuing import n files" after startup then that number should go down. If the sync doesn't take place, and the number is the same after a restart of PSU then that means the files that it tries to sync cannot be accessed.

Check in Folders if there is perhaps a red colored folder. if so, right click and map it to the correct physical folder.

Hert, thanks for suggestions.
During last couple of weeks I imported a number of folders one folder at once and each of them contained 10 to 30 files. All the folders are on a local drive and are accessible all the time. Versioning and, sometimes, labels were applied during the first import attempt. The number of files to be synchronized did not decrease after restarts. Only manual synchronization helped.
I have reverted to build 6626 and everything works as expected.
I compacted databases with the build 6668. Does it make sense to compact them once more using 6626 and to reinstall the new build?

That indicates that those files cannot be found on disk. Try to right click -> "Locate in Finder" (macOS) or "Locate in Explorer" (Windows)

The number to sync on startup goes down in 6626 and not in 6668?

There should never be a need to compact manually, unless PSU indicates to compact.

The files are accessible either by an external image viewer or by internal PSU viewer, or by a file manager.

In 6626 synchronization takes some time and finishes as the last stage of import. The synchronize service does not restart when PSU is restarted which means that all files where successfully ingested and synchronized.

When I import files in 6668 the synchronize service stops almost immediately. Then, it restarts with the same number of files when PSU is restarted.

And then it finishes?
