Timeline issues.

Post by Hesmith1029 »

I have a problem that I can't make go away. Some images appear in the timeline in multiple places. They will appear in the correct spot. Then also under the very earliest legit entry in my time line. Example all photos on 3/1/2020 also show up under 1800|2020-03|2020-03-01.

Their are other variations where they show up under 1899|1899-12|1899-12-30

I have tried deleting them from the database. Then verifying the folder they are into get them back. No joy. I have set all the file dates to the pictures date. Then reset the metadata dates to the file date. No joy.

Suggestions to help clean up the timeline

Thanks

It should be impossible for the same image file to appear twice in the timeline.

If you have images in the 1899 timeline then that means that those images have not been fully imported yet. 1800-12-30 is the so-called zero date that PSU uses. If you fully import all images then 1899 should never exist.

Try this:
1. Select 1899 in the time line
2. Select all thumbs (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A)
3. Right click on a selected thumb and select Metadata -> Read metadata from File

Is it possible you have versions and one of them appears on the correct timeline while another is 1899? That happened to me-the raw was correct but my tiff was in 1899. I used the Read Metadata from File tip Hert recommended and it solved the problem.

Thanks for the tip. I have used it and it has cleaned up those with date on time line of 0. I have removed from the catalog but not the hard disk all those that were appearing twice. In some cases I had to remove them from the display of both time line locations. As an extra step I went to the folder view and removed everything in the folder. Will re verify later to bring them back. Will post results

I have a similar (and unsolved) problem. I have a catalog with AVI files (say XX.AVI) and mov versions (say XX_edited.mov) created by some video editing software (DaVinci Resolve). The AVI file has the correct "File Modification Date/Time" tag, but the mov file has a wrong "File Modification Date/Time"

Within Photo Supreme, I would like both files to appear in the Timeline panel with the correct Date/Time.

I can create a version set and cascade the AVI metadata to the Version set.

This does set the correct "Description data ", "Date Time Original" and "Date time Digitalized" to the mov files, alas it does not correct the Timeline panel namely

I just tried this and it works:
1. Select the file with wrong date
2. Open Image Details
3. In Technical, change Date Time Original to the correct date
4. In the Timeline, the file is then correctly shown at the date I entered

Thanks Here

You can do better :
1: Create a Version Set
2: Cascade the correct date
3: Destroy the Version Set
4: Change date to "Hand Entered"
5: The correct date is already set (at step 2); Enter OK
