Continuing Task Manager CPU usage

I have just move 2200 photos from one folder to another and an entire sub-folder containing 1130 photos.

The files have moved
Photo Supreme shows the photos in their new locations
Nothing appears to be happening

However, Task manager is showing a continuing CPU usage between 50% and 60%. This has been the case for 10 minutes now so it isn't a short amount of activity.

I have a bunch of related queries concerns about what is actually happening, what is the risk of closing Photo Supreme, and so on. I have seen comments elsewhere about background processes and the potential damage of killing them so my concern is related to that sort of risk, rather than just mildly interested

From how you describe it, my first thought is that PSU is handling the OS file change events in the background.

If a progress bar is running for a background process then best to not close/kill the application while that runs because that automatically cancels that operation.

There isn't any progress bar, Photo Supreme appears idle unless you look at Task Manager CPU activity.

I only look there having seen some other comment from you (unrelated) about the risk of closing/killing Photo Supreme before any background processes are complete. I don't close it while it appears busy, my concern is closing it when it appears not to be busy but is actually working hard.

The numbers in my initial question were incorrect as I had forgotten that the base folder file count includes files in any sub-folders. There were 1159 photos moved from one folder to a new folder and an entire sub-folder moved as well containing 1130 photos. A total of 571 version sets. 30 minutes significant CPU activity to achieve this is a lot more than I would expect.
