Invalid / corrupted Exif info crashes PSU

Post by BrianS »

I hope this proves to be useful for a possible reason for some unexplained crashes.

I couldn't work out why opening an imported folder with just 6 jpeg images kept crashing PSU.
So I created another folder with the same images and then drag and dropped one at a time into PSU - Bingo -found the guilty jpeg.

Turns out it had corrupted Exif data - initially I thought it was just the Date / Time field see here:
Model: COGLpMX P610 - that looks like corruption of CoolPix
Software:
Date/Time: #0‹ÝÉ” that is definitely not right

However when I used XnView MP's Exiftool below is what I found.
Once I opened and did a SaveAs in PShop it cleaned up all the exif and the problem went away.

ExifTool Version Number 12.25
