Export list of file names
Export list of file names
Does anybody know an easy way to export a list of file names please? In my case I want to mark a selection and just export the file names to say a cvs file. Thanks.
Never say never change, but using Mac since 2005. Photo Supreme 3.3.0.2605. I endorse the interoperability of files between applications and systems.
Re: Export list of file names
Try right click and then select as in image below;

Then paste the result into the text file, each filename and path on a separate line ?

Select the files, right click > run script from repository > file system > copy filename to clipboard.
I know because someone helpfully told me not too long ago!
Edit: Doh G8DHE, you beat me to it!

Re: Export list of file names
Thanks, but that appears to be a new feature in version 4 and I have not yet updated. (Waiting to find time & also for the bugs to be ironed out)

Re: Export list of file names
What I did in version 3 and still do in version 4 ... I create a custom field:
To export: select files, right click, Metadata - Export Metadata To CSV File, select none (or choose fields you want to include), scroll down and choose your custom field.
If you only chose your custom field, the first column in the CSV file will be the full path and file name and the second column will be just the file name.
Code: Select all
%FileName.%FileExtension
If you only chose your custom field, the first column in the CSV file will be the full path and file name and the second column will be just the file name.

Re: Export list of file names
I would advise upgrading though. It doesn't take long. And as for stability - we're on 4.3.2.x now!
Re: Export list of file names
I intend to upgrade but I'm shooting on location until April so I prefer to keep variables to a minimum

Re: Export list of file names
Totally understand and agree with your rationale Stephen.
When you do reach an appropriate point to go for the upgrade I'm sure you will be pleased with V4.
