Ok, was worth a try. So apparantly it's not the folder access rights.

I'm by far no PostgreSQL expert. Either start over by uninstalling and then reinstalling PostgreSQL or try to find online help from PostgreSQL DBA experts.

Hert,
The database folks have not been responsive so I removed it and reinstalled it. I now have it running according to services but PS gives me a fatal error on connection attempt and no way to set up a new database or restore.
Ideas?
Thanks
Ralph

After installing a new PostgreSQL, create a new PSU database. After that do the restore.

Also check the Maintenance manual, section about migrating to a new PostgreSQL version and the section about restoring.

PS won't let me create a new database. I never have the screen as seen on page 7 of the installation manual setup "new database". I'm stuck with my old one.
I've removed PS and reinstalled it also to no avail.
Screen shot is the only thing I have available.

Hold down Ctrl-Win-Alt while starting psu to get the db creation dialog again.

Hert,
Did not know that trick.
And we are making progress!
Connected and made a database, connected my license. Closed program to look at windows folder to be sure my backup folder was where it should be etc.
When I tried to open PS I got the following screen and PS would not open.

:(
"Restored", said completed, restarted PS and got above error. Clicked OK and PS would not restart. Abort obviously no joy either.
Is their some problem where I'm pointing the program for restore?
I'm sending it to drive I (eye)

Please run this query directly on your database using pgAdmin:

Code: Select all

delete from idJob;
After that, restart PSU

Does that help?

And once you're back up and running then please setup PostgreSQL backups as per the instructions in the Maintenance manual.

So, I'm way out of my depth here, I think I did what you asked me to do. It said completed in 99ms or so.
When I used ctrl+win+alt to start PS it still would not allow me to start a new database however.
JSON error on some starts, sometimes not.
I've attached a screen shot of the databases in postgres to see if that may help you figure out how I've screwed things up

Can you send me a copy of your catalog database?

1. Start pgAdmin
2. Expand to the photosupreme database
3. Right click -> Backup
4. Specify a file name
5. Send me the backup file

Thank you

Hert
Sorry been gone on assignment.
I have the file ready but can't see how to send to you..none of the names light up with an email connection etc. Can't add on here apparently.
Thanks again.
ps I have a remote access program if we could time it right..you could jump on and maybe fix? Jeesh this is taking a lot.
