Problem compacting database

Post by pseud0 » 11 Nov 20 19:05

Hello,
I have a double problem with database compacting :
- every time I start PS (5.6.0.3262) a message ask me to compact the database. If I click on the button, nothing appends, no error message, nothing.
- if I try to compact manually (from the Catalog menu in PS), the compacting of the thumbs DB fails saying there is not enough space to proceed but the free space is easily sufficient (see printscreens).

What can I do ?

Thank's for your help
Patrick

I reported in an ierlier post I experience exact the same type of issues. A bit surprise no one reacted at that time. We need to file issues in Mantis probably.

The Storage tab does not always report correctly. Look in About this Mac -> System Report -> Storage. It may be different.

I just checked this, and noticed a minor omission. The size that is reported in the dialog is in fact the free space on the drive, not the size of the database. The check however is correct. In other words, macOS reports to PSU that the disk has 20.4GB of space that is available to be written. PSU needs 21.8GB. Try to clean some more space, you could purge caches, empty the bin. There are several disk cleaning tools for macOS that help identify where the storage is being used.

Also try this; https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201716
