Big fan but one thing drives me crazy. :)

Post by Rhod » 27 Apr 20 9:00

Hi - I'm a big fan of Photo Supreme and have been using it for a while now (licenced user) but one thing I find very distracting and drives me crazy: When I'm scrolling through thumbnails, the scroll is not smooth but jerky. There seems to be no logic to it either - it doesn't jump so that there is a clean row of thumbs on the top or the bottom. Maybe it's something to do with the way my brain works, but I find this throws me completely so that I'm not sure where I am in the sequence. Every other DAM I have used falls short of Photo Supreme except in this one case - they all have smooth scrolling of thumbnails. If this was sorted Photo Supreme would be perfect for me.
Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi Rhod, thank you for your message. What OS are you using? And what version are you currently using? The last 4 digits are important.

Hi Hert - thanks for your response - I'm running Catalina 10.15.4 on a 2015 Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM.

If it helps at all, I've taken a short video of how it looks on my screen when scrolling through thumbs.

I don't find it as distracting - I'm used to it - but I can confirm that scrolling isn't smooth in Windows 8.1 either, and that the steps are unconnected to the mouse wheel settings.

I find that if there are many images in a folder the scrolling is fairly smooth; if few images the steps are big.

See also Mantis.

Thank, can you also share what PSU version you’re using?
I ask because build 2834 was a major leap forward for thumb scrolling performance.

I'm on 2834. I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm using the built in trackpad with 2 finger scroll gesture, which is second nature to me.

I've tried attaching the vid but I get a message that the file is too large - though it's only about 5 seconds long!

Thanks Hert - done that and it's a definite improvement. Still sort of 'juddery' rather than smooth but definitely better.

In version 2841, Windows 8.1, this is how it now looks:

Each step is one notch of the mouse wheel.

I have to say that I agree with Rhod. For me, on Mac Catalina, each notch in the scroll wheel jumps 3 lines, making the mouse wheel unusable for scrolling through thumbs. . I have to use the scroll bar but I'd really prefer to use the mouse wheel.

The scroll behaviour has changed in the latest release. Did you already install the latest update (build 2858)?

Yes. Scrolling is much improved, thanks! But it still jumps 3 lines for each notch of the wheel.

Below is a video of what I see. Every step is one nudge of the mouse wheel.

Maybe you can share a video as well so I can see the difference.
