Lockup at Sync and Transaction not set during compact

Post by G8DHE » 04 Nov 19 12:11

I'll start a new thread as it may not be the same problem as associated with lockup at Sync during import that version 2487 cures ?

Problem started after removing some Labels on images, the system would lockup during Synching the images, the system would become non-responsive with no CPU time being recorded even after extended wait periods. After closing and restarting the images had been synched and all would appear well. However the sequence would repeat after making further changes to labels. Decided to Compact the database but this thru out the error below;

Now I've just restored back to a database which was pre-version 2487 and the code as well to version 2459 which had been compacted (during backup) and yet the same error is now being reported.
So now bemused as to is this a bug in the new version or a problem with my database ?

2487 doesn't have "sync cures" or any sync changes....2487 fixes the hang after an import that caused the application to freeze. It's a fix in the import module, not the syncing.
BTW; Shortly after 2487, 2490 was released and in a few minutes 2493 will be release.

BTW2; you also posted this in another topic, where I explained what you could try. Please do not cross post. I will merge the duplicate topics.

Sorry about the cross posting.
Tried the above sequence,
1. I have login dialog enabled already
2. Started PSU
3. Selected the catalog and continued.
4. Selected Compact, after a few minutes it came back with the Transaction not set;

The log is telling me that you selected Catalog -> Open from the hamburger menu, not Catalog->Compact Current Catalog. Is that correct?

And which compact option did you select to lead to the error?

Also, the latest version is now 2493, did you install that already?

Thank you

No I pretty certain I selected the Catalog at the starting Menu, which is my usual procedure, then I choose Hamburger > Catalog >Compact and choose the first "Compact catalog database" option.

I will update to the latest version 2493 , next and try the sequence again next.

Can you send me a copy of your catalog database (no need for the larger thumbs database)?
If possible, upload it to your cloud storage and send a link to support@idimager.com

It's downloading...but apparently this is on a slow server and will take 4 hours to finish. Since this is on such a slow server, compressing the file would save a lot of time. Is that still possible?

Did you also check for sufficient free disk space? To compact the database of your size, you'd need at least around 25GB of free disk space to successfully compact the catalog.

Yes there is sufficient diskspace that's not a problem, just compacted the previous backup no problems.
Yup will do regarding the Zip, its in progress now, I'll email a new link as soon as its complete and transffered to the server.

Hi Geoff, Thank you for providing the database. Not sure why only your database gives this error, but with it I could reproduce it. None of my test database lead to this error.
For the Single user there's now a 2497 update to fix this. The server Edition is still at 2493. Can you confirm this fixed?

OK downloaded and working OK on the laptop databases.
Won't be back to check out the main workstation till later today, but may get a chance to Remote access later and kick it off at least.
Thanks for the rapid responses very much appreciated!

Do I assume Hert that it was a bug and not a db error ?
The Compact has now been set running remotely and appears to have been going a while now without problems so looking good.
