PS v5 Google API

Post by wphx » 18 Sep 19 0:10

Hi, I am trying to understand how the Google services work - what information/data is sent to google for these functions, and what protections are there on this data? Thanks if anyone can comment.

I have the same question - what data is sent up to the cloud for the google vision features and what is kept locally and processed locally? Is all of the object/facial recognition done locally?

Photo Supreme interacts with Google Vision.

Vision is a Cloud service from Google and requires you to sign up for their service. Google Vision evaluates the content of an image using its AI magic and returns it’s findings.

When you invoke one of the AI features in Photo Supreme with your Google API key (should be configured with Vision and optionally Google Translate for non English results), then PSU sends a 480px image without metadata to Google Vision for evaluation. Based on that it does it’s magic.

Also read the Artificial Intelligence manual in the Help menu (lower left question mark in PSU).

More info about Vision: https://cloud.google.com/vision/
At that link you can also try their service.

The photo which PhotoSupreme uploads to Google ends up in your "bucket" inside your Google Account for processing.

You can read more about the Google Vision AI implementation in PhotoSupreme and Googles API key setup in these PDFs.

I wrote a long piece about how it works and then Here beat me with a minute or to posting his reply. :)
So this is the short version.

Does Google Vision include Googles really good face recognition as known from Google Photos?

Or is there any way to enable it?

Google Vision does not provide face recognition, only face detection.
