Short camera model in Rename script

Post by fenschop » 22 Aug 18 8:34

Inspired by discussion on naming conventions by Stephen and snowman1 here: viewtopic.php?f=57&t=27263#p120480 I decided to change my naming and include the camera model. However this text is long, like "Canon EOS 450D" and I prefer to have it shorter, like "450D".

Are there other fields in the metadata that contain a short name? Or do I need to write a script that enumerates all camera models that I use, including phones? Hoping for a smarter solution than this brute force approach.

This should give you the right 4 characters of the model;

Code: Select all

%xmp:tiff:Model{right=4}

Is there a good reference to the syntax (like you applied above). My current approach is trying to find examples on this forum.

Click the menu in the rename dialog...that's how I did it (I don't remember all these things). Here's a short video
