Import images from another DAM

Post by stevehughes » 30 Aug 13 0:57

Our church has a large collection of images which is being managed by another DAM product. With PSU SQL version released I want to see if I can get them switched over to PSU.

I can import the images into PSU but I'm having trouble getting PSU to pick up the right categories.

I tried to attach a sample image but it's over 1MB can post it elsewhere if required. This image came from my own collection where I have labelled it in PSU with keywords that suit me. They have since also been labelled by the other DAM, and it''s this info I and trying to get into PSU now.

In the attached data extracted by EXIFtool, the info I am wanting to pick up from the XMP is: Event Worship Services|Outreach Services|Brad Thorn

is there a way to get PSU to grab this info and build categories from it ?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

XMP support in ExifTool is very poor, and a dump like this doesn't provides much information.

Can you use this script to dump the XMP for that image (select it first) and share it here?

Code: Select all

var
  AXMP: TXMP;
  AFile: WideString;
begin
  if Selected.Count = 0 then exit;
  AFile := WindowsDesktopDir + 'HertXMPDump.xmp'

  AXMP := TXMP.Create(False);
  Catalog.LoadXMPForImage(Selected.Items[0], AXmp, Options.CachedXMP);
  AXMP.SaveToFile (AFile, Selected.Items[0].ExifFileName);
  Say ('File saved as ' + AFile);
  AXMP.Free;
end;
Thank you
Hert
