custom XMP and PSU

Post by fbungarz » 07 Feb 13 6:26

How can I migrate a custom XMP schema from IDI to PSU?
I understand that for photos which contain custom XMP this XMP data still shows up and can even be written to. However, how does that actually work: is it necessary to copy the custom XMP templates ( *.idxmpdef and *.idxmpes) from the IDI applications settings folder to a PSU applications setting folder so that all other fields are also available in PSU?
IDI Pro 5 files that define metadata, no matter if regular XMP or custom XMP are the *.idxmpdef and *.idxmpes in the folder C:\Users\---\AppData\Local\IDimager\EditorSchemas\...
Are these files compatible with PSU, even across platforms (Win --> Mac)?
If not, would it be possible to generate a blank photo with all custom XMP metadata filled in and load it into PSU so that PSU generates all these custom fields?
Thanks,
Frank

Frank,

1. Close Photo Supreme
2. Download the DWC zip file from the repository
3. Extract both file that are in the ZIP file to the folder %localappdata%\IDimager Systems, Inc.\EditorSchemas
4. Start Photo Supreme

You should now be able to select the DWC editor in Details panel (click the upper right corner button).

Hope that helps

Hert

That works nice! I added that to my site Photo Supreme tips, tricks and scripts...

Thanks!
FYI - There are two minor errors in the DwC XMP that I will correct and upload to the resource repository. These errors were discovered when the Darwin Core was recently migrated to ExifTool (see: http://u88.n24.queensu.ca/exiftool/foru ... pic=4442.0).
Also: the IDI Metadata Panel in the Resource Repository is a subset of all DwC fields, the ones most commonly used. I will add another one with all fields.

Dear Hert and Michael,
OK, I uploaded the corrected version 2 now with instructions included as PDF (since the Wiki is down) to the resource repository: http://repository.idimager.com/cgi-bin/ ... b348f63358

Once this new version is released I would like to add a short comment about this to http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12712
Unfortunately that topic is locked :(

Frank,
Maybe a new topic would be better since this is an old topic?
You can copy paste all necessary info into the new thread...
