Solid State hard drive performance with PSU

Post by danaltick » 14 Jan 13 16:44

Could I expect a significant improvement in performance with PSU using a solid state hard drive?

YES! A very significant one!!!
But you need to put the DB on the SSD :)

A SSD is highly recommended, not only for PSU...

I used to have one but it wasn't reliable and finally failed completely. I've been hesitant to purchase another one, but that was a few years back. Hopefully reliability has improved since then.

Dan,
I have 2 SSD's from 2 different manufacturers and haven't had no problems so far.
You may experience problems with whatever hardware you own - nothing is 100% reliable, but I think they are pretty reliable nowadays!

Cheers,
Michael

Hi Dan (nice to have you back, BTW),

I've been using a macbook air with a 256 gb ssd for more than a year (running windows). It's very speedy and has performed flawlessly. IIRC, Hert works on a similar setup.

Michael & George,

Yep... I think the time has come. In the market for a new flat screen too.

BTW, PSU is simply amazing! My hat's off to Hert and the team... much leaner and much friendlier, and yet stronger. Talk about having your cake and eating too!
