Importing from a WMI device

Post by AstroMidas » 21 Oct 12 22:48

HI,

I just got a Canon EOS 60D and when I connect it to the PC (Windows 7 x64) it appears as a 'camera device' rather than a drive letter. I can't see how to then get Photo Supreme to import images from this device. Under the import wizard I can only select folders/drives to import from.

Should this work?

I did have IDImager 5 installed and I'm sure it detected WMI devices and asked if I wanted to add them as an import source, but this doesn't seem to be working with PhSu.

Thanks,
Mark

PSU doesn't support WIA connected devices. Make sure that you configure your camera to connect as a Media device. This is also a loooooot faster than using the WIA protocol.

Hert,

Thanks for letting me know. Looking into it further it seems that Canon doesn't support mass storage devices with their SLRs, so I'll have to work with the SD card in a reader instead.

Mark.

I have a Canon PowerShot SX230 that shows up in Windows Explorer as a portable device and I can browse it as "removable storage". Is there any way to configure it so that I can import through Photo Supreme or am I out of luck? Thanks.

Some camera's allow to change the USB connection type. Make sure you set it to something like "media" or "drive"

Hope that helps

Unfortunately, I don't see any settings for that on my camera. I guess a card reader will be required. Thanks.
