IDimager Maintenance Update 5.1.2.1

Post by Hert » 13 Mar 12 15:56

This update contains a few fixes; the most important ones:

1. Some DNG files wouldn't display the full preview, even if available
2. Interoperability with Lightroom is improved
3. Fixed an issue where the auto-sync feature would bring itself in a "loop" state

Great! This answers the question of whether 5.x would continue to be developed. Does improved interoperability with Lightroom mean that previews/thumbnails are expected to be correct? Andy will be happy if that's the case.

Hert,

Thank you for taking the time to dig into the LR-issues some of us have seen.
I have played a bit and so far all looks good. You even solved the problem with the option to "save fast file data" GREAT

THANKS
Michael

BTW: Have I mentioned that I am now again a happy IDimager user ?

Thanks for the update, Michael. I'm off to check it out myself.

Thanks to Hert as well, of course.

Yes George.. Andy IS a happy camper as this new exe does seem to correct the LR problems we've been seeing.. WHOHOO!! I've played with it a bit yesterday and today and so far.. so good. I've reverted back to LR3 because I've seen that the previews and thumbs generated from LR4 are causing some weird issues... once I pull the image back into LR3 and just update the previews, it is fine... back to LR4.. and the problem happens again... strange.

In any event... thanks so much for the update Hert... I am curious where you found the problem of course if you are willing to share...

*** EDIT *** I'm back to using LR4 as I discovered what the issue was.. the DNG tab on the preferences was set to an earlier version of DNG converter... once I pushed that up to 6.6 - things work again.. strange stuff!

Ok.. so I just tested the new version with about 19 images from a recent download.. used my standard workflow from Idi to LR for DNG images... good news and bad news..

The good news is all the thumbnails and previews did update correctly (YAY!).. the bad news.. I got 3 sync error message during the process like this one:
idi2.jpg
idi2.jpg (30.38 KiB) Viewed 5535 times
Now, I could see that LR took about 10 seconds per images to update... Idi was following along, flashing the thumbnail twice to do what appeared 2 separate updates (why?). Also a concern, about 1/2 the images still have the orange box on them.. why would that be? I thought so long as auto-sync is enabled, then any sync that would occur would update the images/metadata and bring it in-sync... why would some images be in sync and some out-of-sync because of this process? All the images were edited in LR, so they all received updated previews and LR metadata. How can I know why idimager thinks the image is not in sync..?

Hert... we are getting closer!

Michael; so glad to read that you're happy again :)

Andy; Great that your issues have been fixed. The one that you post here can be anything locking the file, including a virus scanner, or another application that is triggered by the change (maybe IDimager's stand alone file monitor?). Please don't post your questions and issues in this topic. This topic is an announcement and intended to inform the readers what is new in this update.
Thank you
Hert

Hi Hert,

Just fyi: I've seen a lot of sync issues on 5.1.2.1. Posted them on the bugs/problems forum.

Added info: I've already tried stopping virus scanner etc. so none of that :-)
