Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

I may be wrong, but vaguely recall in IDI5 those dialogs had a "Dont show again" style checkbox, hence my confusion relating to that fact that resetting the "don't ask again" menu item had no effect. I tend to agree (although not as strongly) that with 3 or 4 potential options when deleting, it is d...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

Tom, Preston, Mike, good and bad news on this topic. The good news - I figured out the problem myself. The bad news - I've wasted your time on trying to figure out a problem that shouldn't have occurred. Have a look at Tools > Preferences > General > Ask for confirmation before deleting images. Yup ...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

When you say "main collection" then what you mean is that the image is being removed from the catalog (database) as well as the portfolio collection. Correct. Sorry for not using the right terminology. I just had a look through the "combined" quick start manuals but couldn't see a glossary. Using a...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

Thanks Mike & Preston. I haven't seen that dialog for a l.o.n.g time. I'll see if Hert has a less drastic solution, plus by reinstalling I will be removing any evidence of the problem that may be of use to prevent it happening again to me or someone else.

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

1) I find the described behaviour very strange. FWIW, there is no "Don't Ask Again" option in the Delete dialog. What? So this dialog should always be displayed? 2) Do you have images which are stored both in portfolio collections and in sub-collections? No, all my images are in portfolio sub-colle...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

Andrew; when you press Delete on a thumb that then you should get the Delete dialog. Are you seeing that? I am not seeing any Delete dialog when I press Delete in the portfolio sub collection view, even though I have reset "Dont Ask Again" questions. FWIW I am not seeing any Delete dialog when I pr...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

Are you saying that when you remove your thumbnail from the portfolio collection that it is also removed from the image basket? In other words, is the "main collection" that you are referring to the image basket? If so, I will try to reproduce that myself and let you know what happens. It will have...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

Thanks Tom & Mike for your thoughts, I may not be using correct terminology, or explaining myself clearly, but I still think something is wrong. According to the PSu context menu commands, maybe I should be referring to a "portfolio sub collection" instead of just "portfolio" A quick & simple test: ...

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

hmmm, deleting from the portfolio and then doing a folder verify to restore into the collection doesn't help because it also gets restored into the portfolio. So I'm currently stuck. I can't see anything in the quick start manuals about this.

Re: Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

Thanks Tom. Yes I agree, portfolios don't contain the images. I'm sure in the past I could remove the association between a collection image and a portfolio. Surely if I can add it to a portfolio I should be able to remove it, without deleting the image from the collection?? It also seems the "do no...

Remove thumb from portfolio w/o deleting in collection

I'm sure I used to be able to do this... how do I remove a thumbnail from a portfolio without deleting it from the underlying collection? I have also clicked on Help > Reset all "Don't ask questions" just in case, but no luck, I'm not asked. Each time now when I delete a thumbnail from a portfolio i...

Re: File Listener with Supreme, Lightroom CC & Windows 10

Can you add 1st line to batch file: "echo on"
and last line: "pause"
then figure out the error message from where the batch file stops?

Windows 10 and PDF Thumbnails

By default 64-bit Windows 10 Home (and probably other W10 versions) doesn't display a PDF file preview in Windows Explorer when viewing as icons. My trick with Windows XP was to install Adobe Reader. Note that a "preview handler" and "thumbnail handler" is required (maybe just the latter) for PSu to...

Re: Windows 10 compatability

I know this is a little unrelated sorry but I finally migrated from Windows XP to 10. A big radical/ risky jump. I found my copy of Photoshop CS was no longer supported - the program runs fine, but Adobe will not allow it to be activated, so after 30 days I will be locked out. I was happy with the v...

Re: why is "building similarity data" necessary

hmmm, thanks for both your replies, but 100% sure I had latest V3.1.0.2067 running on both computers. I simply copied the catalog & thumb database files from one computer to the other, so each computer should have had exactly the same data. What is Similarity Data and can it be disabled because the ...
