Re: Additional colour designation for labels in Assign View

@Mike You can be really quite offensive, even without trying and this is not an isolated occasion. Just imagine how offensive I could be if I really tried, Stephen. Well, you are offensive to several people on this forum. I have been very restrained so far, but as this is the 3rd or 4th time that y...

Re: Speed

Dear PhilBurton, Thanks a lot for calibrating my expectations to realities and for great advice. I'm already using CCleaner and agree with the surperlatives. I will follow your advice. Ole Ole, With Windows XP, you are a "victim" every time you connect to the Web. You could easily become a victim o...

Re: Do you backup thumbnail database?

My backup software allows me to back up "versions" of data files, so I can restore to any date I want, not just the most recent version of all my data. Retrospect, if anyone is interested. Has versions for Windows and MacOS.Phil Have you ever testing the restore process? With this type of backup so...

Re: Do you backup thumbnail database?

I use external software to perform my backups and the time required to back up everything including the thumbnail database is about five minutes. I see no reason why not to back up everything daily. Same here. My "DATA" partition backups could take more than five minutes, but all my "live data" is ...

Re: Flash fired flag

Hert, I understand your explanations about metadata inconsistencies caused by other tools. Still, my own longtime suspicion is that there are certain inconsistencies in PSU's own handling or displaying of metadata. (I must say that I also found By Image Details unreliable in the past.) Vlad, Assumi...

Re: Speed

Ole, One additional point. Software is usually designed to run at "acceptable" speed on "systems in common use." (Disclaimer: I have no idea if Hert follows this practice.) In your situation, the software designer would probably not include Windows XP, because making the software run at acceptable s...

Re: Speed

Hi, Just started using Photo Supreme, but I have a problem with the speed. Giving a photo stars takes a freeze of 5 seconds, deleting photos makes the program freeze for 20 seconds, when scrolling on thumbnails it takes 5 seconds until all are loaded (also the second time on the same thumbnails), a...

@steve48,

This is one of the longer-running threads in the forum. As the OP of this thread, have your questions been addressed?

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Thanks again for everybody's help, tomorrow is crunch time - my free trial expires and I'm still not 100% convinced I should buy. Stupid UK referendum has just put price up $119.99 now = £96.64 times 2 so that I can run it on my laptop and desktop. I run PS on both my desktop and laptop with one li...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

I agree with you about writing out catalog change data. But what is the counter argument? (just for completeness sake). If that auto setting is not enabled, you have to remember to manually synch to write the changed catalog data to the image files. If you're not comfortable that you'll consistentl...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Though I, like Kevin, enable automatically writing out catalog changes to the image files, I do appreciate that some people understandably prefer to disable that setting at least in the beginning stages while they are trying to get an understanding of how Supreme works. Once you're confident that y...

Hert,

Just wondering. Any idea about when the beta period will end? Is the beta stable enough now for general production use?

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

I am with Vlad in this. To me it makes little sense to support non-compliant products, especially because they may decide to change whatever they do from one version to the next. And what do you do then? Do you want PSu to support Capture One 8.8 or 8.9 or 9 or 10... ??? Or all versions? Seems to m...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Phil, Stephen: Sorry, but I'm not sure what exactly you're suggesting (expecting) Hert to do. High compliance with the standard(s) is already a competitive advantage, at least in theory. Imho, investing significant time or other resources to ensure full compatibility with a bunch of non-compliant p...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

I agree that this would offer PSu a competitive advantage. I would fully support this proposal and actively provide feedback by whatever means is decided. Let's all join Hert in making this the DAM of choice, providing active correction for meta data errors, however caused. :D And competitive advan...
