Re: question about Rename & Download by Prefix Import Script

Hi Phil, sorry for the confusion. All the files that you need are included in the ZIP archive that you can download from the resource repository: http://repository.idimager.com/openresource.asp?GUID=4D2052B08C8F41F18D9A0D2408FCE4B0 Just click the Download Button and open the archive, where you will...

question about Rename & Download by Prefix Import Script

I was reading through the file DownloadByPrefix_RenameRule.txt , which is part of the zip file for this script. The notes for this file include: // - This script is designed to be used with the downloader pre-script // "Download by Prefix", as it manages some of the registry keys used // by this scr...

Re: All images missing after parent folder rename

Sanphotgn,

When I go to folders, I don't see any kind of hierarchy.

All images missing after parent folder rename

I just re-organized some test import databases under a new parent folder, and now the images in one of the test import catalogs are all missing. What do I need to reset to get all the images back? This is not critical, since it's only a test that I can repeat (in about 3 hours) but I may as well sol...

Re: Lightroom Workflow

Hi Phil, The biggest lack in Lightroom is non-support for custom metadata Couldn't agree more, but how is that related to your need to be able to enter keywords there? Why can you not simply do all your tagging in PSu? I find it a lot easier and faster to do this there. [FYI - the only great advant...

Re: Mapping England and United Kingdom

On a sideline: Not joking, but, the Brexit may indeed have consequences: it seems quite possible that the UK breaks apart as a result. I guess England and possibly Wales will remain part of the UK, but Scotland not necessarily so. If that happens you will have to treat the UK similar to the former ...

Re: Lightroom Workflow

As someone wrote, it also depends on having the same keyword hierarchy across both platforms. True. Regarding personal preferences: if one doesn't care about any of the data Lightroom is writing, then disable all writing to the file in Lightroom. Then there is no need to have the same keyword hiera...

Re: Lightroom Workflow

Since I tend to take lots of pictures and only share a handful, much of my time spent using PSU is spent reviewing full size jpegs, comparing them, and then sharing them. If I'm going to process my raw files in Lightroom and not create jpegs, then I am forced to use Lightroom to do my previewing, c...

Re: Lightroom Workflow

PhilBurton said: "(By the way, apparently by design, PSu does not treat a RAW and JPG as one image, which is a beef I have with PSu.)" I am pleased that it doesn't! I would have preferred an option to treat a RAW and JPG as one image if the EXIF metadata is the same. That way, we can both be happy....

Re: Lightroom Workflow

I convert to DNG, so I have all my LR mods as a high-quality JPG embedded within my DNG. Hondor, I have just started experimenting with LIghtroom and the dng option seems to be a good one. Would you elaborate a bit for me about how and when you convert to dng and also how to get Lightroom to embed ...

Re: MOVE, not COPY, on import?

@Phil This is perhaps rhetoric on my part because you have probably considered your goals well, which I don't wish to question. I am still 'moving' many files in small batches on a 'as needed basis', with just 43,000 to go, which might take another year. However, rather than 'moving', I chose to co...

MOVE, not COPY, on import?

Is it possible to physically move image files on import, rather than COPYing them? (This can be done in Lightroom, FYI.)

Re: Lightroom Workflow

Thanks for the links. Interesting stuff there. Some of it way more detailed and picky then I want. Some of you all would be dissatisfied with the dogs breakfast that I maintain of a folder organization underneath the "Pictures" folder, but it works well enough for me. The challenge I'm trying to ov...

Re: Lightroom Workflow

Hey, all: I've seen several mentions of a forum topic that specifically discusses the workflows involved with PSU and Lightroom together. I cannot find these topics. Anybody want to hit me with some links? Thanks, Bill Bill, Are you a current Lightroom user? Thinking of using Lightroom? Phil Burton
