Re: FTS expression tree

... filenames containing characters that act as operators or delimiters in SQLite searches, such as hyphens ("NOT") and spaces ("OR)... . Are you seriously suggesting I rename most of my image file names? Hyphens and spaces are legal Windows name characters. No, I'm not suggesting that at all, but ...

Re: FTS expression tree

A quick "google" reveals that the error message is generated by SQLite and "it's something SQLite says if you've got a query with way too many arguments within a single set of parenthesis". Could these difficulties be related to filenames containing characters that act as operators or delimiters in ...

Re: Corrupt photo dates

It has happened again, and the corruption is far more dramatic than just the loss of photo date. After adding keywords and resizing in PSU the entire metadata (per ExifTool) reads as follows............ The metadata is truncated there so all other information has been lost from the file! The photo ...

Re: Corrupt photo dates

I did use ExifTool to look inside one of the files and there was no sign of the original date. However, for that photo and others that I have recognised as having lost their dates I have been able to look up the original dates in backup files and have applied them in PSU. What was in the various da...

Re: Corrupt photo dates

At the top of this thread I asked whether there is a keyboard shortcut (or some other action) to overwrite the Photo Date with the current date/time. Am I correct in thinking that there isn't? There are ways of doing this, but there is no direct shortcut and it is hard to imagine either sequence be...

Re: Corrupt photo dates

Many dates are recorded in metadata. PSu has a set of rules to determine which is the "photo date", as summarised in http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=22960&p=103498&hilit=photo+date#p103498. If XMP and Exif dates are not available the file modification date will be used and this will c...

Re: Files not shown as "out of sync" but keywords not recorded in file

I think that PSu uses a comparison of date/time stamps to determine whether catalog and image files are in sync. Changing preferences for how the sync should be performed if it is performed does not cause images to be marked as out of sync. For example, you can set the preferences so that labels are...

Re: Import very slow

Do you have automatic version detection switched on in the import profile? I think that would cause import to slow as the number of images grows. I'm not sure. Does the importer's version detection check against images imported in previous sessions? I thought it did but, judging from a brief test, ...

You can open two instances of PSu using the same catalog.

Re: Bug w. dragging tag to a new Category

the problem is with new categories -- i.e. only the first time dragging a label causes this problem. After then restarting PS it appears to work as it should. Building a new collection though, I've come across it a few times now, and can always reproduce it. I have tried my best, and can't reproduc...

Re: Bug w. dragging tag to a new Category

You may have to have the focus on a particular part of the display before CTRL+R will "work". I do recall needing CTRL+R a few times in the past, but relocating a label to a different category is working perfectly on my system at the moment so I can't test solutions. This is with Windows 10 x64 and ...

Typing CTRL + R (or CMD + R on Mac) to force a reread/refresh might fix this.

Re: How can I cycle between a selection of photos in full screen mode?

You could try putting images of interest in the Image Basket (context menu or SHIFT+B shortcut) or a Portfolio Collection and then keying through that in full screen.
