Re: Schemas, thumbnails and previews

Hondor, My opinion about the use of DNG on limited hardware: DNG files are bigger and thus need more time in lightroom to rewrite the file when changing the image or adjusting the metatata in PSU. A sidecar file is much smaller and therefore faster to update. Depending on your backup strategy, the D...

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?

You cannot import while in travel mode. If you disengage travel mode, you could import the images with different import settings to the notebook while on a trip. When back at home, relocate the images to the external hard disk and tell PSU to However, i would enjoy my trip, and do the cataloging whe...

Hondor wrote:I created a custom field called Scan Number - I couldn't find an appropriate pre-existent field for my info.
While you can use the PreservedFilename (%xapMM:PreservedFileName) to store the original image name, the custom field is the better solution.

Re: POLL: How Many Images Are You Cataloging in Photo Suprem

I use multiple catalogs and keep the size rather limited for performance reasons. My current hardware seems with the 10000 to 20000 range in balance.

Re: Slideshow studdering?

Hert,
I did repeat the test on my older notebook with Core™2 Duo Processor P8400.
While the CPU reaches 50%, the transitions where better. But i did the test with PSU in off-line mode where not the full screen images are loaded.

Michael, did you use the slide show in On-line mode?

Re: Slideshow studdering?

Hert,
The i5-3210M is a dual-core with hyperthreading : 2 Cores / 4 Threads
(http://ark.intel.com/products/67355/Int ... 0-GHz-rPGA)

Does the number of cores have an impact on the slide show transition?

Re: Slideshow studdering?

Anyone else experiencing a heavy studdering when the slideshow is running? Here on my system the slideshow is actually not usable because of this... Michael, here to the the transition is 'studdering'. The CPU is higher (25%) during the transition but not that high it will cause that effect. Lippe,...

Re: System Recommendations

Hi, Please note, my experience with Windows 8 are only a few days old: Where were they with their minds at Redmond when they launched this OS? The Vista or 7 start menu is in my opinion more productive. I understand that your still considering Windows 7. PSU does well on Windows 8 just like most pro...

I agree with Michael. As with the update, the user should receive a notice during installation and the option to turn it off.

Re: labels and versions

In PSU, only the catalog labels are common for all images in the version set. The color labels are independent.

Re: Can Photo Supreme read and write keywords to and from im

Chary, yes you can: You can optionally read the keywords and let PSU convert or merge with the to catalog labels. Also the writing is configurable. I think this is not changed comparing to IDI5. http://manualsu.idimager.com/keywords_and_delimited_keywords.html You can also use IDI5 to write the ISC-...

Re: Re-Read some Metadata from NEF not from XMP

Btwl the Image Details conversion uses True, True, True, False so exactly the same as this script I tested this again with the "True, True, True, False" but the results are not the same! (copyrightnotice still missing) Only if set the fifth parameter to True, the copyrightnotice is retained. So whe...

Michael, after running the script, it seems that copyright notice is lost. While the Import meta to XMP seems to preserve this information.

Michael, now that you are a experienced scripter, would you been so kind to share the PSU- version of the script?
Thank you very much!

Re: Imported images are out-of-sync [Solved]

Further testing revealed i could not sync an image anymore. This is very strange but the behavior has changed after rebooting the OS and changing database in PSU. Since i can't reproduce this even with the same test database, i will not log this in mantis.

Lippe,
