Re: Delimiter choice

As I say here : I chose the “/” character because Microsoft’s Windows Photo Gallery uses it as the separator to structure the keyword hierarchy. Because Windows Photo Gallery is easy to use for other family members, I’ve adopted this method of implementing a keyword hierarchy, i.e. using the “/” se...

Re: Delimiter choice

Mike, I have to wonder why you decided to make it possible to write delimited keywords Very valid point... it slipped when I reviewed the options that should return in PSU. Then again, I would have been flamed for it if I did remove it, hahaha Hert Well, I would certainly protest very loudly - I re...

Re: Delimiter choice

Just one addition to Hert's comprehensive reply: The LR method of storing hierarchy using XMP is a de facto standard. There is no de jure standard at present. The closest we've got to that is the standard proposed by the Metadata Working Group. However, as far as I know, there's no product available...

Re: Delimiter choice

Tom, I think you'll find that Lightroom also writes both delimited and flat keywords, so this behavior is not just Aftershot alone. I don't use Aftershot, but I found the same thing happening when I trialled Lightroom . It was one of the reasons why I don't use it. Now, the interesting thing is that...

Re: Delimiter choice

As the old saying goes: "the best thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from"... I think you have to choose your character with an eye to what other tools you use with your images. Not all tools have the flexibility of being able to choose your delimiter, as PSU does. So then tha...

Re: Windows RT Device and PSU

Windows RT is an operating system designed to run on ARM hardware - completely different from the Intel x86 and x64 architectures. And as Hert says, legacy Windows desktop applications are compiled to run on Intel architectures. It's also highly likely that the full set of Windows desktop APIs (Appl...

Re: Sort by F-stop or shutterspeed

Hert, it's not immediately obvious that the profile in the Image Details panel is linked to the Image details display of the Catalog. If you are displaying the Catalog Image Details view and switch profiles in the Image Details panel, the Catalog view is not refreshed. You have to switch away from t...

Re: Lighttable and load full size image

I must say that the ability to compare images side-by-side at 100% in the LT was one of the things I used in IDI to cull my images. It became easy to see which image had the best degree of sharpness. While I can understand the point about memory constraints, I would have thought that this was one of...

Re: Installing 64bits version?

OK,

I found that I had to copy my license file from the x86 directory across to the equivalent Program directory. Now it has started up.

I don't know that this will be clear to folks who are primarily photographers, rather than IT specialists...

Re: Installing 64bits version?

In may case, installation was NOT successful.

I ran the 64 bit installer - it installed.

I then uninstalled the 32bit version.

I then ran the 64bit version, only to be told that my trial had expired and PSU would close.

Humph!

Installing 64bits version?

Thank you for the announcement of the 64bit version of PSU. However, the announcement doesn't make it clear how we should upgrade from the 32bit to the 64bit version. Do we... 1) just run the 64bit version of the installer, or 2) first uninstall the 32bit version of PSU, and then run the 64bit versi...

Re: How can I migrate a Lightroom 4.2 Catalog to Photo Supre

I'm happy with Photo Supreme - it does pretty much what I want from a DAM. As I've said elsewhere, I never really used much of the power of IDimager V5. I can understand that some people will feel that Supreme is nowhere near the same level of capability as IDimager, but for me, it's good enough, an...

Re: How can I migrate a Lightroom 4.2 Catalog to Photo Supre

Tiberius, I found that Lightroom would read in hierarchical keywords quite well, but then insist on writing them out as single-level keywords as well as its own version of hierarchical keywords. One more reason for me not to use Lightroom as my DAM... See http://gcoupe.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/light...

Re: Label Assignment Panel Requests

Why not just use drag and drop into the Catalog Explorer to label using the catalog tree, rather than adding more complexity to the LAP? Yes... I can see that this sort of works. But you have to be using Catalog Labels for Import sessions, in order to display them as part of the total Catalog label...

Re: Label Assignment Panel Requests

I like it. For the most part, I personally use the LAP, but I completely understand that there are those whose working methods gravitate towards the Tree view.
