Re: gaps in documentation?

Stephen, I agree with your concern. Years ago the comment was made that documentation was not updated because it would limit the number of minor releases. The current trend, however, is longer between minor releases, especially past about April or so. If this is the new norm, I would like to see bet...

Re: How do you display your pictures?

Could you please explain what you mean by "on-the-fly or custom tree-building"? Thank you. Basically it allows you to define a tree structure based on the metadata of the collection. So in Foobar, you can define a tree structure like: Genre|Artist|Album Rock | Artist 1 | | Album 1 | | Album 2 But y...

Re: How do you display your pictures?

Failing that, you could take a look at the oddly-named PhotoGrok http://www.haplessgenius.com/photogrok/ , which uses ExifTool to build a catalog of sorts. It's freeware but requires Java. It's also rather basic, so maybe wouldn't suit your intended users. Once installed, you need to tell it which ...

Re: open two instances of same databa side by side?

While I have not read all of this discussion (sorry, it's pretty long!) I agree that being able to see the metadata and label assignment panels at the same time would be extremely helpful. Not just to confirm, but because it makes it quicker to process images. Flipping back and forth between panels ...

Re: Label revocation: findings + comments

I agree with vlad as well. The more I look into this issue, the less I understand about PSU labels. I thought setting up the details mapping on a per label basis would handle assigning and unassigning. In theory (or how vlad laid it out) I think it is a very powerful feature. As it is... just confus...

Re: Location labels and fields in Photo Supreme 3

Charles, I agree with your #2 and associated issue. If I setup the label to apply the field data, I expect to see it when I apply the label. From what I have seen this is not the case.

Re: Sidecar Files

@Hert: Thanks, much appreciated! However, is there any way to see a list of all sidecar definitions? I have also created a mantis request (http://bugs.idimager.com/view.php?id=2903) for user editing the sidecar definitions. While I understand that this is a somewhat minor feature, PS handles sidecar...

Re: Sidecar Files

Tom, Reading your post, I think you understand what I'm trying to do. Yes, AS produces an xmp file as you said. So in the same folder as the image there is the .cr2 image file, .xmp PS3 sidecar, and the .cr2.xmp AS sidecar. When I am in PS and want to move an image from one folder to another, the .c...

Re: Location labels and fields in Photo Supreme 3

I too am interested in these "features." I read through your points and would add my own (though I'm pretty sure they duplicate yours, just shaky as to terminology): K1: I have a label Places::United States::North Carolina::Buxton. Several pictures are tagged with this label. Then I go back and set ...

Re: Sidecar Files

@Hert: wow, I had no idea AfterShot was so unfriendly! Oh well, I don't need to see the edits in PS3. I only use PS3 as my raw converter and PS3 for my metadata needs. @Vlad/@Hert: All I need is to have the sidecar automatically files moved when I drag and drop a file in folder view. Hert, are you s...

Yeah I wondered about the catalog entry as well. I created mantis ticket http://mantis.idimager.com/view.php?id=2902 for the delete operation.

Re: Sidecar Files

My concern is just with moving the sidecar files as I move the image files into different folders via PS3. Up until now, I've always moved my .cr2 files before editing so the sidecars did not need to be moved. I looked at the file extension setting, but came to a similar conclusion. I know IDI5 had ...

Import

is there a way to delete files from the disk while culling them in the importer? My actual dilemma is that while culling I often want to remove an image from the viewer so I don't have to keep going back over it. Some images are obvious deletes. I pressed delete and the dialog came up about deleting...

Sidecar Files

Is there a way to get PSU to recognize different types of sidecar files. I use Aftershot Pro and noticed that moving images between drives left the AfterShot xmp files on the source drive. I looked in settings but did not see anything that seemed to allow me to set the extensions for sidecar files.

Re: Error on Compact

Well, I got everything up and running. I followed the advice in this thread (http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12162#p66410). After this I was able to vacuum the database using SQLite tools and perform the integrity check successfully. Tonight I tried using SQLite Expert Personal to open...
