Error: Not a writeable directory

So recently I started getting the following error on startup (before any splash screen or main window): Information ----------- Unable to connect to the database. The database reports: SQLITE_ERROR - not a writable directory [OK] If I click ok I get a dialog saying "cannot connect to the database," ...

Re: Which date is which?

Yeah, jstartin's reply makes some sense... my biggest problem is how to fix the files so I dont have to manually set the dates on every file!

Re: Which date is which?

So my import filename settings are: yyyymmdd-%FileName And when I do this on 2017-01-27 for a photo taken on 2016-12-05 I get a filename like this: 20161205-IMG_0290.jpg But when I look at the photo date in PSU (%yyyy-%mm-%dd on the custom thumbnail, or by opening the re-date dialog), I see 2017-01-...

Re: Which date is which?

Yes, the date in the modify date dialog is the picture's PSU-recognized date/time.

So yeah, I guess what I'm saying is that the date recognized by PSU "after" import is different than the date recognized "during" import.

Which date is which?

So I import pictures and use "picture taken" date to create a prefix for the filename. Everything is good and the datestring in the filename is what I expect. But then I hit ctrl+shift+d and the date is the current date/time (when the pictures were imported). If PSU knows the date to make the correc...

Re: Growing collection of unsynced images

Don't know if its related, but I've noticed that "synch all unsynched images" menu item appears to not find any unsynched images. If I go to the catalog state, select all, and then right-click to synch, PS synchs most of them (haven't tested enough). I'm using 2076, could this be part of the reason ...

Re: Beta 3.3 version

I didnt think assigning data before importing worked. I could be wrong, but I tried assigning catalog labels before importing and had issues.

I guess I figured that since the assign and details panes could be used from the importer, I could just do all of my metadata and then import.

Re: Confusion about import dates

i too have seen different dates. I rename on import using %yyyy %mm and %dd, which I also use for a subfolder name. I have seen photos come in with the correct filename date, but incorrect metadata or folder names. To me it seems like it pulls the dates from different parts of the metadata. I think ...

Re: Manual

Is PSU being updated too fast for a manual? With IDImager I might have agreed... but given the current release cycle? Forums, while helpful (though note the drastic slowdown in posting since Hert has cut back on his posts), are no substitute for good documentation. There are posts from years ago tha...

Re: gaps in documentation?

Stephen, I agree with your concern. Years ago the comment was made that documentation was not updated because it would limit the number of minor releases. The current trend, however, is longer between minor releases, especially past about April or so. If this is the new norm, I would like to see bet...

Re: How do you display your pictures?

Could you please explain what you mean by "on-the-fly or custom tree-building"? Thank you. Basically it allows you to define a tree structure based on the metadata of the collection. So in Foobar, you can define a tree structure like: Genre|Artist|Album Rock | Artist 1 | | Album 1 | | Album 2 But y...

Re: How do you display your pictures?

Failing that, you could take a look at the oddly-named PhotoGrok http://www.haplessgenius.com/photogrok/ , which uses ExifTool to build a catalog of sorts. It's freeware but requires Java. It's also rather basic, so maybe wouldn't suit your intended users. Once installed, you need to tell it which ...

Re: open two instances of same databa side by side?

While I have not read all of this discussion (sorry, it's pretty long!) I agree that being able to see the metadata and label assignment panels at the same time would be extremely helpful. Not just to confirm, but because it makes it quicker to process images. Flipping back and forth between panels ...

Re: Label revocation: findings + comments

I agree with vlad as well. The more I look into this issue, the less I understand about PSU labels. I thought setting up the details mapping on a per label basis would handle assigning and unassigning. In theory (or how vlad laid it out) I think it is a very powerful feature. As it is... just confus...

Re: Location labels and fields in Photo Supreme 3

Charles, I agree with your #2 and associated issue. If I setup the label to apply the field data, I expect to see it when I apply the label. From what I have seen this is not the case.
