Re: Filtering by label displays images of unexpected type

I can still reproduce this every time - only NEF files are returned when filtering with any label in the Filter Bar. But I noticed something else: if I choose either "With at least one label" or "With no labels", then I get both JPG and NEF images displayed. This is still not the correct result. But...

Re: GEO locations in multiple labels

Thanks for the explanations - I think it's all clear now. Just a final thought, in light of the "no guarantee" mention above: any other considerations aside, ensuring the most specific GPS info gets written into files is perhaps a good reason for assigning only the most specific labels (leaf labels)...

Re: GEO locations in multiple labels

Overwrite pre-existing GEO location info Of course nothing is written when the option is unchecked and there is pre-existing GPS in the file's metadata (that is how it already works). Ok, that makes sense. But, I'm thinking at the following scenario: an image does not have initially any GPS info. I...

Re: GEO locations in multiple labels

If you have assigned multiple catalog that each have GPS labels then PSU will write any of them to the file. In your sample this will most probably be the lowest one, but there's no guarantee. Hmm, that's not ideal (I mean the "no guarantee" part), but I can imagine the reasons for it. (Better to n...

Label searches: suggested improvements

I've already read an old thread ( http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=22794 ) that offers good advice on searching for all images having two labels assigned, but I've decided to create a new one to discuss specific problems and suggestions. I do agree that both Dynamic Search and the sear...

GEO locations in multiple labels

Let's say I associate GEO locations with a number of hierarchical labels for places. If I assign both a child label and a parent label (but not necessarily in this order), does PSU ensure that the GEO location is always set based on the child label - or does it depend on the assignment order? What i...

Re: batch import that renames files with a sequence number?

There is a file called renamestack.xml in the "%localappdata%\IDimager Systems, Inc" folder. That file contains the last used number per ID begin used. Brilliant: editing renamestack.xml and using %ImageNumber{length=4;ID=%FileExtension;reset=date}.%FileExtension does indeed the trick! May I quickl...

Re: Private label vs. "Do not create keyword for this label"

Of course, changing all of your location labels now is probably going to be tedious. Hert added a feature that allows us to select multiple catalog labels but he never did add a feature that allows us to modify the details of those labels once they are selected. This is a good example of when that ...

Re: Private label vs. "Do not create keyword for this label"

Thanks for the detailed explanations, Hert - I think it is now clear (to me, at least) how the private labels work, what to expect from the label options and how to define a certain behavior. There are indeed many, many options in PSU (and, frankly, I don't know how you could have made the interface...

Collection history + filtering

I love the fact that I can navigate the collection view history (not sure if that's the correct terminology) with the left and right arrows. But, even though I can see the history stores the filters applied at each time, navigating back to a past collection view applies the current filter rather tha...

Re: Private label vs. "Do not create keyword for this label"

Labels / keywords ? Help me, please... I am a little bit lost with "catalog label", "keyword"... In PSU, a catalog label can be : 1. written in metadata as a keyword (tag dc:subject) only - meaning : no mapping, 2. written in metadata as a keyword + IPTC field(s) - meaning : mapping to one/several ...

Re: Private label vs. "Do not create keyword for this label"

1) the label is mapped to a (public) keyword - can also be mapped to other metadata 2) the label is not automatically mapped to a keyword - but can still be mapped (by the user and PSu) to some metadata; private is not guaranteed 3) the label is completely private (guaranteed) - no label mappings a...

Re: Private label vs. "Do not create keyword for this label"

Hi Dirk, If you decide to map a catalog label to another XMP field then that is of course outside of the control of the "private" setting. The private setting means that it won't be written to metadata keywords. Actually, I think it is essential that 'private' works as it does now: it only dictates ...

Filtering by label displays images of unexpected type

(Right now, all my JPG files are main versions and all my NEF files are versions with the album placeholder. I have not assigned any labels to NEF files and I have not run any cascading script.) If I click on a catalog label in Catalog -> By Category, I get all the JPG files to which I assigned that...
