Re: Catalogue hierarchy

I agree with you about writing out catalog change data. But what is the counter argument? (just for completeness sake). If that auto setting is not enabled, you have to remember to manually synch to write the changed catalog data to the image files. If you're not comfortable that you'll consistentl...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Now that Kevin has done such a nice job of getting back to Steve... I wholeheartedly second Kevin's recommendation to start over and to do so in the initial stage using only a portion of the images. Notice Kevin's recommendation to read and write only the hierarchical keywords, not the delimited key...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Steve, I see several problems with your settings, some of which you have changed from the default settings. I'm confident the current settings would cause at least some of the issues you have described. I'm busy right now and can't take the time to deal with your details until later. There are lots ...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

PS is messing with my metadata in such a way that I can't use it. I already offered to provide the kind of help that can be given only once you post screenshots of your Synchronize Read and Write settings but you seem unwilling to post them. I'm confident others would also provide help if you would...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

And competitive advantage always leads to greater sales Actually, no, not always. I can imagine the so-called competitive advantage being proposed leading to a non-stop series of over-sized headaches that simply aren't worth it. Better to leave the solutions to the companies that cause the problems...

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Steve,

I recommend that you start a new thread so people can help you sort out your unusual issues. Regarding the issue pertaining to the multiple copies of the keywords, I also recommend that you post screenshots of your Synchronize Read and Write settings.

I stand by my recommendation to use only one program at a time. The question can be asked as many ways as possible but my answer will remain the same. That's because the fundamental reasons for my recommendation remain the same.

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

So if in some future time, I decide that I like something else better than PS, then won't that "something else" also be managing metadata? No. If you believe as I do that you should use only one program to manage your metadata, you would be using that software instead of Supreme to do so. You would...

Re: windows: generating hardlink possible in batch?

Alain,

Consider downloading Supreme and trying to get your batch process to work on it.

Re: Catalogue hierarchy

Phil, There is a huge difference between using multiple software applications to manage metadata and using them to view metadata. I concur that using multiple applications to manage metadata is akin to an accident waiting to happen. It would be nice if all software applications implemented the metad...

Not on my system. Using that click stream merely takes me to the files on my computer.

You seem to be confused. The file will be displayed there only if you have previously used Supreme to select it on your computer system.

Re: Riecks's Controlled Vocab

That doesn't surprise me, as Supreme is a lot faster in a lot of functions than IDimager, which is what I used to import it.

Re: Riecks's Controlled Vocab

Like Mike said: Not sure how useful it is to load all that into your catalog. It can add a bit of clutter. For example, if you never visited Africa and have no images from that continent, it might be a good idea not to import that section of the attached keyword hierarchy. I apparently didn't make ...
