Re: How you use tabs (new in V3)

Mike,

You could add your 'often used folders' to the Favourites. From there you can open them in a new tab with control left click.

Re: How to resolve "File Changed" status after external edit

So, what's the easy way??
Upgrade to V3...

In V3, with auto-sync switched on, changes made with LR are picked up immediately. And IIRC with auto-sync switched off the status is changed to out of sync.

Re: Importing fresh shoots

Same as Mike: all my imports are done with PSU. Too many programs use proprietary fields to store info. This could mean that you have to take additional actions afterward to make it adhere to common standards. It might be names of people, streets, buildings, whatever, things which can be easily forg...

Re: Manual

There are Quick Manuals available from the PSu Help menu.
These are all PDF files that you can save to disk.

Re: Schemas, thumbnails and previews

My opinion about the use of DNG on limited hardware: Can somebody please define 'limited hardware'? For a while I used DNG with LR and PSU on what I call limited hardware (I think it was a 2008 or 2009 notebook with ancient Core2Duo, 2GB memory, etc) and I did not really have any issues with that. ...

Re: Schemas, thumbnails and previews

The primary conversion <snip> I assume you mean conversion to DNG. I would suggest to do this conversion while importing images into PSU. There is a ready-made import script that uses the Adobe DNG Converter. 1) But wouldn't the edits be visible already in the particular case of DNG? I had the impr...

Aha... that was while I was offline (but not travelling); living in the reedbeds of Norfolk ;)

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?

off-line mode In Photo Supreme, it's called Travel Mode. It's obvious I don't have a use for it (my main computer is a notebook with an SSD + 1TB internal drive; it always goes where I go :) ) BTW: a year ago even Hert still called it offline mode http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?t=22934 Gr....

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?

It is important to know that PSU does not support merging data from 2 sources. I suppose that depends on how you define "support" . If the Synchronise Settings in Preferences are set up properly then, having made sure the "secondary" catalogue is fully synced with the images, it is easy and ...

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?

My understanding is that the PSU backup/restore functionality concerns only the catalog+thumbnail databases, not the actual images. Databases, other data files (such as various profiles) and registry settings (these could be stored in a file) To really use the same "mirrored" catalog on two machine...

Re: Laptop as primary PSU home?

For reference: I have about 16k images and the PSU database is just under 800MB. The preview database (using 1280 previews) is just under 8GB. It is important to know that PSU does not support merging data from 2 sources. But if you only use either on your desktop or laptop that's not a problem. For...

Re: Adjusting Dates and Time Zones

I don't want to change all of my dates and then realize that I did something wrong. Best advice here: copy some images in a separate directory and use these to test the changes on. Finally, the file date. Is that date going to be the date that the file is imported onto my hard drive? If so, then I ...
