Re: individual specific facial recognition (like Picasa)

Just to chime in, I was helping my mom with Picasa and stumbled across this feature. It is very cool and Google has done nice job implementing it.

Re: Dealing with unkown or approximate dates

Good question. I'd also be interested in knowing how people deal with approximate dates.

Re: creating a photo album

Thanks, Andy. I've been thinking some more about this project. My wife does handmade books, and I'm thinking now that I want to desktop publish it and have her bind the book. Is there desktop publishing software (PC) that you would recommend? Preferably it would be inexpensive, have a good selection...

creating a photo album

This is kind of a workflow question, so I'll post here... I'd like to use an online service to create a printed photo album. I'd like to take advantage my image metadata so I can correctly caption the images in the album. Has anyone worked with an online album service that will import image descript...

verification before restore

On Tools > Catalog Maintenance > Backup, the backup and restore options are adjacent on the drop-down menu. If you are backing up, it is possible to select Restore by mistake, and then the dialog box to select the restore folder doesn't clearly say that you are restoring. So I've restored by mistake...

error when launching Google Maps panel

When I launch the Google Maps panel I get an error message: An error occurred. Unknown identifier or variable is not delcared: 'TJpegGraphic'. Source position: 377,27 (0) If I click okay, the dialog box closes, but IDImager then shuts down if I try to do anything. Can anyone help? Thanks doug

Re: Panasonic RW2: How to convert to DNG using Handler?

I just bought a GF1 as well. I'm using it as my "small" camera (my D300 is my "big" camera). Overall I like it a lot and agree with Andy's review. Biggest benefit to me is having near-DSLR quality and features in a camera that fits in a big pocket. I shoot a lot more now that I have it. Minor concer...

Re: Counting unsynced images

I do get different number of images (numbers are different from my original post because I've been syncing):

click out of sync = 1102 images
check out of sync = 40 images (in 17 version sets)

Re: Counting unsynced images

Clicking the orange dot next to the Catalog Labels will give you all "Cataloged" images, not *all* images. Cataloged images are images that have at least one significant catalog label assigned to them I don't think that's it. I have very few images without labels and when I look under Cataolog Stat...

Counting unsynced images

If I select all images (click the orange dot next to Catalog Labels) and then filter by XMP Unsync'ed, I get 196 images that are unsynced. If I go to Catalog States > Out of Sync, I get 2909 images. What's the difference? I understand that I am looking at version sets in the first instance and indiv...

cascading rating and label info in a batch file

I use a batch file to create Web versions of my images. The commands are (1) color profile conversion, (2) resize, (3) convert file (to jpg), (4) sharpen, and (5) rename file (to add a _w suffix). The web version is saved as part of the version set. The web version does not contain the rating or or ...
