Re: Considering becoming a DNG convert...

Hi Jeff - color me a DNG-a-holic too... the reason I like it - I consider it a one stop shopping format. So, I don't convert to ANY other file type.. I download my photos and apply an auto-conversion to DNG (for JPG, NEF, ARW, etc), edit the files in Lightroom and then use LR to update the metadata ...

Re: DNG Develop Tool - Help Me Decide?

Andy, You mentioned a couple of raw converters that I wasn't familiar with so I tried to check them out. I was unable to find a converter called "Crazy UI". Do you have a link to that software? Lol... whoops - sorry... Crazy UI was in reference to SageLight... I think it is the most powerful softwa...

Re: DNG Develop Tool - Help Me Decide?

HI Geoff - I can't tell you how many editors and DAM tools I have loaded on my computer at this point... at least 20-25.. I've tried just about all of them. For me and my workflow, I love Lightroom. I find the tools work very well and I can quickly group images together to make quick work of those i...

Re: Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

Hi Dick - indeed, if I knew for sure that LR and Supreme would play nice together all the time with DNG files, I would bite the bullet and just convert everything to DNG and proceed in that fashion... as mentioned, that was how I originally proceeded in v5 but had issues with the auto-sync in Idi mi...

Re: Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

Hi Toomas - thanks for joining the discussion...! In a nutshell - I do the import first in LR because I cannot overwrite these images in LR after making the edits. LR forces me to make duplicate copies in order to see the edits (unless using DNG - and as discussed above - that has been complicated w...

Re: Geo Tag Panel

Ah yes.. thanks Hert - that certainly does help. Was just trying to come up with an easy way to assign coords to a label without first having to assign them to an image and then loading that image. This will help...

Re: Geo Tag Panel

Please add my thanks and congrats to the new panel as well... I too think it is really well designed, fast and easy to use. Just one question - when creating a catalog label and assigning Geo info to that label - is there a way to assign the data using a Map/pin placement? This would be a really eas...

Re: Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

I was running into some unexplained failures when using auto-sync and updating the DNG previews/metadata in LR - the edits and changes would appear just great in LR and any other DAM program I used (I once did a test with 4 other DAM programs all running along side Idimager for a few days) - but id...

Re: Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

Hi Mike... perhaps I am missing a feature/setting - but I believe #3 is needed because LR prevents you from ever overwriting the same image upon export - you MUST export to a new file that is not the original you imported You are correct about that, Andy, but that point was not at the heart of my q...

Re: Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

In the past, I've converted all images to DNG and updated previews in LR to accomplish this in idimager - but the result was far from perfect and frustrating. Hi Andy. This is what I'm still doing with Idimager. I mirror all the originals in case I ever have to go back to them (very rare that I do)...

Re: Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

Andy, Your questions make me think that one of us is misunderstanding something. I don't understand the need in Step 3 to export to a temporary folder. Why not export to the permanent folder and save the step of having to delete the temporary folder? Similarly, why bother with Step 7? When you do o...

Yet another PS and Lightroom question...

Hi.. as I think more and more about my cataloging/keywording... I think I would like to give the combo of Idimager and LR a solid try again. My concerns are as follows: a) I would use the following scenario 1 - import from memory card to temp location on hard drive using LR (auto-rename files, apply...

Re: Show sharpened, speed

Just to comment... if you create videos with some capture software - you can turn on an option that show/highlights mouse clicks.. this may help others viewing the software to see the responsiveness based upon button clicks... hope this helps!

Re: 'Write delimited keywords' going away?

Interesting.. are we saying that folks should not use hierarchical keywording? Or are we saying folks shouldn't use keywords that contain a deliminated character in them (such as "." or "/")? I have been rethinking my keywording strategy yet again and since hierarchical keywording has not been accep...
