Re: hierarchal labels

My label adventures continue. Hope that bug got reported. Meanwhile, while applying labels, I created a new label D as a child of B in the sequence A, B Later I wanted to correct the sequence and make D a child of the existing sequence A, B, C So instead of A,B,D it was changed to A,B,C,D On the ass...

Saving space, dups and similar pictures

I've start to save a lot of disk space by applying labels to my pictures. I save each day's shooting in its own folder: yyyy-mm-dd <short description> Then I would create a bunch of extra sub folders and copy common themes from multiple days to these sub folders. A lot of duplicates and a lot of wor...

Re: displaying version sets

I tried this strategy in another small folder. Created a new OOC JPG subfolder and moved all those OOC JPG files there. Now I have: top folder with CR2 files /subfolder with TIF files created by the raw processor (this will go as I now use a non-destructive RAW processor that removes the need to cre...

Re: displaying version sets

After compacting the database, it now shows the two complete thumbs. One for each file in the top level, the CR2 and the OOC JPG
Each of them also show the two subfolder files.

So to avoid having two sets of thumbs, I should move the OOC JPG files to their own sub folder?

Re: displaying version sets

... Probably, 2009-12-15-0001.cr2 shows up in the duplicated file list. I looked, there is only one copy of each file. ...If you have a version set made up of files from the same folder then, in folder view, you will see as many "copies" of the version set as there are files. ... . There are three ...

displaying version sets

In the folder view, I see a pair of thumbnails the I think should be in a version set. The left one is the CR2 file, the right one is a set that includes JPG and TIF files. It also contains a CR2. single and versions.JPG Here you see the CR2 displayed in both single and versions 2.JPG These are the ...

Re: Duplicates, Similar and a NOT filter

I found this from Hert http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=23748&p=108753&hilit=duplicate#p108753 Binary vs visual comparisons Now is there a way to have PSu ignore RAW+JPG pairs? That is, treat them as a single entity so that neither the Duplicate nor the Similar functions will flag them?

Duplicates, Similar and a NOT filter

Thanks to the Catalog states, I have found several thousand duplicate and similar images. Have already removed hundreds of duplicates. If I understand it correctly, from what I see, duplicate is the exact same image stored in multiple locations. What are the specific criteria: filename, ext, size, d...

Re: hierarchal labels

Naturally I would pick the one method (the magnifying glass search) that doesn't work. Tried typing the label and it worked. Tried picking the label from the Recently Used and it also worked.

Thanks to all your help I can continue with my labeling.

Re: hierarchal labels

In my continuing saga, I had previously created a label set, Africa, Namibia and applied it to a set of images. I then defined a new label, Spitzkoppe. I selected a subset of the previous group of images, applied the new label and got this error messge: access violation.JPG When I clicked on OK, the...

Re: hierarchal labels

I tried again and still can't select one of the intermediate values, only the end points of each branch. I created this catalog tree: catalog.JPG I can select any of the end values, Etoshia, Deadvlei, etc but if i try to select Sossusvlei, the parent of Deadvlei, it doesn't get applied. I even appli...

hierarchal labels

I've extended some the places labels to include four levels A/B/C/D I can assign D and the whole series gets assigned. I can't assign C, expecting A and B to also be assigned, without D If I assign D, and then remove D, the whole set from A to D is removed. Do I have to select the the last member of...

Re: workflow for the first time

Was afraid of that. Not the first time I've run into this situation, great software but a dearth of documentation. Not so much the what, which is often available but the why. Why choose one option instead of another. Why do this rather than that. Meanwhile, 0 out of sych, yea! Now to study the label...
