Re: Stacking in V5 Criteria ?

Also, how does stacking relate to versioning and should I use both or just one? If your TIFF is the result of combining multiple source images, you may wish to combine those source images in a 'stack' - which is just a group of images. For example, you might use focus stacking (https://en.wikipedia...

Re: Stacking in V5 Criteria ?

I want to keep the original RAW file as well as the cropped TIFF but I want the TIFF to be always on top. How can I do that? Your TIFF image is a version of your RAW file, so you would version them - no need for stacking. To display your version set, you have 3 choices: To display them TIFF-first a...

Re: Bug: 'Recently used labels' panel not showing recently used labels

Tried changing the number of images in the panel to 36 and to 20, but that made no difference. However leaving the folder being worked on then returning to it reset everything back to normal, so immediate problem has gone.

Bug: 'Recently used labels' panel not showing recently used labels

I'm having problems with the 'recently used labels' panel. Part-way through labeling a batch of images it started misbehaving - not aware of anything in particular that triggered this. At some point a bunch of labels that I had recently using - within the last 10 minutes or so - disappeared from the...

Re: Controlling the Timeline from Media Pro

In my case the date is part of my file naming convention, so I rarely need to look at anything other than the file name. But as noted by sanphotgn, exif:DateTimeOriginal and exif:DateTimeDigitized are the most useful in the metadata.

Feature explained: Apply multiple related labels with one click

Apart from stacking, one of my favorite new features in Version 5 is the ability to apply multiple related labels to an image with a single click. Since this capability is one of many items in the long list of enhancements and improvements in v5, I thought I'd post this thread to highlight it. Here'...

It doesn't seem to be working for JPEGs or RAW files (and isn't recognizing the output folder I've specified, which could be why). Looks like a bug...

Unless there's been a change, all feature requests remain valid irrespective of the version number they were logged under.

I'm wondering what the criteria is for deciding that images are stacked?
There's a setting in Preferences » Catalog » Stacking that can be changed to automatically stack images taken within a certain time of each other.

Re: description and visualisation screen

it would be nice to be able to toggle descriptions on/off anytime I'm cycling through images (so anytime I have one image in view at a time). If you're not in full-screen mode, then you can do that by viewing the Details tab (and see much more than just the description). If you are in full-screen m...

Hello, and welcome!

If you open the 'details' panel, and if it is wide enough, then you can see the text:

Re: Multicore support for batch processing

If this was my computer, I would run tests without the ram disk and see what happens. Me too - and I'd be interested in the results. Just a guess, but I imagine that much of what PSU is doing is reading and writing to the images on your spinning drive, so that's likely to be a bigger bottleneck tha...

Worth trying 'convert data to XML', if you've not already done so, then reading the metadata from file.

Re: External Viewer for Face / Regions names etc.

In a similar situation I've used PSU's 'Print' function, which can be configured to show face areas, to output the files as PDFs.

If you really want JPGs you could run the PDFs though an image extractor. Though not sure that you'd gain much.

Re: New User - Managing Metadata

Maybe what I need to do is a full back up of the family stuff before I touch it, then put that away someplace safe, and then incorporate the tagged family files into my normal 3-2-1 backup scheme. That would be my choice. But before that, be sure that you're happy with your file naming scheme, so t...
