Re: Face areas turning invisible

So nobody else experiencing this? Or just nobody making much use of this feature?

Re: Sidecar - workflow findings

There have been several requests for DxO to adopt XMP - for example this thread today https://feedback.dxo.com/t/option-to-preserve-metadata-in-xmp-sidecars/7324/3 and this from November https://feedback.dxo.com/t/xmp-implementation-for-database-purposes-in-the-future-dpl-dam/5672 - so they may even...

Re: Sidecar - workflow findings

As a DxO user I can confirm your 3rd finding; DxO seems to write non-standard metadata.

More generally, there's a thread on different workflows that may be of interest at viewtopic.php?f=57&t=23786

Re: Face areas turning invisible

Unfortunately the problem has now returned. I tried opening (i.e. clicking on thumbnail to enlarge it for labelling) several images and in all cases no area labels visible until moused over. Prior to doing this I'd been using PSU to do various import and labelling tasks; maybe the 'forgetfulness' is...

Re: Face areas turning invisible

This was getting so annoying that I wiped and reinstalled PSU this morning and it now appears to be working as expected - I'll post again if not with additional information if that turns out not to be the case. But yes, it was the label that was disappearing, so it appeared that there were no faces ...

Face areas turning invisible

I've been adding some face areas - the first time I've done so for a few weeks. I can add the areas OK, but if I move on to another image then return to it they're not visible, except when I mouse over one of them. If I close PSU and reopen it, they're visible again (but closing and reopening a tab ...

Very comprehensive Snowman! A couple of personal tips + Android apps that may be of interest: 1) I also take a reference photo of my mobile phone time (using the DigitalClock app by Light Dot Net) as the basis for time correction, but never worry about trying to hit 00 seconds. Instead, I use anothe...

Re: google maps for "development purposes only"

Have you enabled all the required API's, there are several, I don't have the list here at present but I suspect you need the Gecode etc. Hi Geoff, I did enable several, but just logged on to Google to check and they've suspended my account for 'potentially suspicious activity' so I guess that may b...

Re: google maps for "development purposes only"

I recently obtained a Google Maps API key (using a virtual credit card that I've created for the purpose with a very low expenditure limit) and am free of the "development purposes only" map when using geocoding via the action button. However when setting the optional Geolocation when creating a cat...

Re: Naming convention scanned film

Interesting Harald. I use photographer-date-device-serialNumber for file names as (for me) its necessary and sufficient to guarantee a unique name for every image. Images are renamed outside PSU using FreeCommander's Multi Rename feature - which stores and applies multiple profiles in a similar way ...

Re: Naming convention scanned film

I agree with Harald on metadata.

My file name convention always remains photographer-date-device-serialNumber (and for device I'd use 'scan' or 'Minolta5400').

Re: Scanned transparencies

These days I record the date of scans in the file name only, using fillers for unknowns - so 199ymmdd or (if the decade is uncertain) c1990mmdd. All scans are also labelled with "scanned from slide" "scanned from print" or "scanned from negative", and if there is an obvious season, then a label for ...
