Proceed carefully!

Take a look at this thread: http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=23899 and the corresponding Matis ticket at http://bugs.idimager.com/view.php?id=2901 (which also contains a workaround).

I'd be interested if you're experiencing the same...

Re: Location labels and fields in Photo Supreme 3

Just wondering: am I the only one who is really missing the globe button in the label details? You just got a +1 - it would often help me. While the GPS coordinates help me see the images on a map (tangible benefit), I'm starting to ponder whether writing and maintaining the IPTC/XMP location field...

Re: GEO tagging issues

I guess it's worth summarising that, for me 1) I have no problem with IPTC/XMP location data being added to images 2) The current fully-automatic system that generates catalog entries from IPTC/XMP location data causes me problems that could be improved by either: making it optional (via a configura...

Re: GEO tagging issues

Mke, there's a misunderstanding. You now appear to be solely focused on the IPTC/XMP location fields (as filled in with values returned by Google), although we've been also talking about the catalog labels that are assigned (and created, if needed) based on those fields. Of course, PSU won't refres...

Re: GEO tagging issues

Well, I think that PSU always reads and matches the IPTC/XMP location upon any subsequent change affecting the image. Are you suggesting that you're not concerned about such scenarios (subsequent changes) - or that PSU should never create new location labels for certain image(s) and/or location fie...

Re: GEO tagging issues

1. There are some oddities not only with the reverse lookup (based on input coordinates), but also with the regular lookup (based on some input field(s)). Charles has provided a good example: pick an image without any GEO info, open the GEO Tag panel, type 'Namche Bazar' in the City field and perfo...

Re: GEO tagging issues

(I'm a bit surprised that no one else has jumped in, given that other people use GEO features too.) Well, if you insist :) I do use Geo tags, but normally using the GPX track feature + some manual adjustment. Like you, I've found that reverse lookup via Google isn't always reliable (Google's proble...

Re: 'Verify folder' after moving to different drive

1) Did the verify folder find any new images? No - just "file changed". For example in one folder it finds 'file changed' for 131 out of 141 images, in another 89 out of 90. 2) Did any verified images get merged into version sets? (I'm asking because all versions must eventually share the same labe...

Re: 'Verify folder' after moving to different drive

Hmm. Something very odd going on here. Just spotted that, in the folders that I verified, the 'verified' images have gained extra labels during the verification process. All the labels seem to have been acquired from other images in the same folder. For example, in one folder the number of labels fo...

'Verify folder' after moving to different drive

Yesterday I moved my main photo collection to a different drive, and remapped the root folder in PSU. Now, if I verify a folder, PSU goes through the entire process of syncing, building thumbnails and version detection for all photos (almost, except for two or three) in the folder. I presume that th...

Re: When do you delete photos on cards

Similar to Mike and Preston, I reformat cards when I have at least one on-site and one off-site backup of everything I want to keep - albeit they won't necessarily all be post-processed or fully catalogued by then.

Re: Advised to Not Use SQL - should have done more research

Hi Backing up then compacting the database is normally the fist thing to try, particularly if you've not done it recently (or at all). If that doesn't immediately improve matters, then I'm guessing that there may be something peculiar about your setup - particularly if you were advised to use the Po...

Re: How does the need to "Convert Metadata To XMP" arise?

Its no doubt not an 'official' use of Convert Metadata to XMP - and the effect may even by psychological rather than real - but my main reason for using this is to persuade PSU to correctly orientate portrait images. Even though portrait images are shown in their correct orientation on other softwar...

Re: Automatic cascading options

Catalog Labels should not be included in your design. Catalog Labels always apply to the full set (they are also not "auto cascaded" though i understand that it could be interpreted like that). Hert, thanks for your feedback :) (Though personally I'd choose not have keywords written to web versions...
