Re: File moving slowdown

Thanks Hert.

I've upgraded to v2886 and can confirm that it is now significantly quicker, at 2' 32", which is a worthwhile improvement. Though I'm sure it didn't use to take so long. I'll see if there are any other tests I can run.

Re: File moving slowdown

Another possible clue while just running another test. The Windows 'file move popup' popped up for each of the first few images, separately for each image, one after the other, starting right from dropping the files on the new directory, and roughly corresponding to the timing of the removal of the ...

Re: File moving slowdown

My point was the size of the open collection. Moving 100 files from a set of 200 or a set of 10000 can make a difference. Yes, I understood that; I'm moving all the files - a selection of 100 images from a folder of 100 images (and in my other example, 24 files out of a folder of 24) to a folder co...

Re: File moving slowdown

Just done another test on the 100 files: Moving them within PSU still takes 3' 20"; Moving them via the OS, returning to PSU, running 'Verify Folder All', accepting and processing the results (deleting the old images from the catalogs, importing the new, including validation, synchronization and bui...

Re: File moving slowdown

The times above are for moving 100 files from one directory to another empty one, so no big collection involved. Moving 24 files (from the camera, with no additional metadata added) from one directory to another empty directory takes about 43 seconds (about 27" apparently doing nothing other than cl...

Re: File moving slowdown

How are you moving files. And try to disable your custom thumb lines when moving files to see if that makes a difference. I'm moving files by dragging and dropping in the 'folders' view. Disabling custom thumbnails makes no difference to the timing; it's just that then nothing appears to happen for...

File moving slowdown

One of the recent releases seems to have introduced a bug that slows down the moving of file from one directory to another. When I try to move 100 RAW files (no stacks or versions) between folders, it now takes 3' 30": For 8 seconds nothing seems to happen; for 1' 12" my 4 lines of 'custom thumb inf...

Not using PSU's Import Module? Wow, any reason why not?
I rarely use it either; it's just not normally the 1st thing in my workflow.

When all versions are finished I don't want to see the raw RAW as a preview image. Nobody wants that.
In your settings you have 'Main version detection method' set to 'First RAW else JPG' - you need to change it.

In version 2841, Windows 8.1, this is how it now looks:
.
scrolling1c.mp4
(255.29 KiB) Downloaded 80 times
.
Each step is one notch of the mouse wheel.

Tried with version 2841 on Windows 8.1 and I can't make it misbehave.

Re: Big fan but one thing drives me crazy. :)

I don't find it as distracting - I'm used to it - but I can confirm that scrolling isn't smooth in Windows 8.1 either, and that the steps are unconnected to the mouse wheel settings. I find that if there are many images in a folder the scrolling is fairly smooth; if few images the steps are big. See...

Why would you always only see a filtered list?
In my case, to save having to scroll through tens of thousands of images in the vague hope of finding what I'm looking for.

Re: DXO PhotoLab 3 DNG not how in PS

I have PhotoLab 2.3.2 and, although I never normally export to DNG, I've just exported a few and they show up fine in Photo Supreme. There is no setting to include a preview or exclude a preview in PhotoLab 2, so unless they've added one in version 3, perhaps they have introduced a bug? As a workaro...
