Re: Best Practice for Version Sets

jstartin - thank you for the info. I am not completely sure, but I think I am right in saying that 'Out of sync' means 'could be out of sync'. Your info reminded me of another post regarding 'could be out of sync': http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=24835&p=115326 There might be a few ot...

Re: Best Practice for Version Sets

If everything is being shown as in sync - no orange dots, Out of Sync state shows 0 - why use Verify Folder? Was it a case you were seeing out of sync images, used Verify Folder, and then out of curiosity tried Verify Folder when everything appeared to be in sync? :) I don't have time right now to d...

My Synchronize settings are:-

Read Keywords
Ticked - Read IDimager ICS scheme
Untick - Read IDimager ICS scheme

This is only when you want to recreate a database/catalog.

Were XMP files created for the ORF files during your latest test example?

Re: Best Practice for Version Sets

In your latest test example ... Are you trying to write directly to the RAW (ORF) file? Or is there an XMP sidecar file?

What are your keyword processing settings for write and read?

Read IDimager ICS scheme should only be enabled when trying to recreate a database.

Re: is there a way to use v4 and v3 on the same computer?

Is there more than one database in the folder(s)?

Does the folder contain the folder structure and files found in local the folder structure? Or just a database?

Re: is there a way to use v4 and v3 on the same computer?

Larry56 - is the database in "E:\PS Catalog v3" a backup of a v3 database? And a backup made before using v4?

Up to recently I have been re-entering. However, for my current project I tried something different. I created a new database,...

Re: Don't change date by writing XMP?

I look at XMP sidecar files like this. They are EVERYTHING. They are the individual databases to one's photos. They are easily searchable (which is very cool). They make databases, like PSU, possible. Worst case scenario: the PSU database (production and backup) is lost and the production XMP sideca...

Re: Don't change date by writing XMP?

Are you writing your XMP to XMP side car files? Or directly into the RAW/JPG files?

Re: Selected files output as textfile?

What type of output would you like to see in the text file? File name? Metadata? You can export metadata from selected images by right clicking on the selected files and going to Metadata - Export Metadata To CSV File. Select the fields you want to export. The first field is automatically the path t...

The graphical representations of the the script / macro in the Rename window on Windows:

Rename.PNG
Rename.PNG (26.28 KiB) Viewed 1687 times

Do you see the same, except for the double file extension in the new (suggested) file name?

Re: 2605 or 2606 ?

I use Windows, but it appears Mac has a "Properties" equivalent called "Get Info", which displays the version of an application. (Granted, some of the tutorials I have found are kind of ancient, so hopefully it is still available or was replaced by an equivalent.)

Re: Changing the File Extension

DirkS' script works here on Windows. I selected multiple files for the test. MikeNaylor - after you enter the script as text in the Macro Text window and click on OK to return to the Rename window, where you see a kind of graphical representation of the script / macro, do you see the original file n...

Re: Technical data - Focal length

Is there an easy way to have the script output to a file (CSV) instead? The following is another solution. Are the fields one wants to export to CSV shown in Details? If not ... it is possible another Metadata Details "template" (templates may not be the exact term) contains the fields. Go to Detai...
