Re: Sql server version of Photo Supreme
Oh, sweet indeed. Awesome job Hert (admitting that I haven't downloaded it yet - so take it as a vote of complete confidence) You Europeans are masters of understatement. Who else could have responded with "Certainly not months" while the ink was drying on the release notes ? :-) I manage a site whi...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
Interesting point. I hadn't considered that.
Thanks,

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
Hert, Regardless of the original post, I thought my intent as recapped above was clear: "I want to ensure that they will always sort correctly both by filename and by date when distributed to other family members." The capture dates of a set of scanned slides mean nothing. They bear no resemblance t...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
Thanks Hert. But it's not the renaming I have an issue with. That bit's easy. Its the sequential re-dating that I'm struggling with. Any insights on that ? I'm looking for some way I can work %ImageNumber into an expression that results in a date/time stamp.

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
Thanks Hert, I raised this in January here: http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=22512 To recap, when I scan a bulk number of slides from family history, I sort them into a sensible order in a portfolio. I want to ensure that they will always sort correctly both by filename and by date whe...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
but this upcoming capability is excellent news. Good to hear/read that Mike. Btw, this is already available in yesterday's release, build 1.9.1.146 This is great. Works well for me. Thank you. Is the manual sort order available as a batch variable ? IDI had a method for doing a redate with cumulati...

Re: Sql server version of Photo Supreme
YES ! Amen ! Hallelujah ! <add any other superlatives that seem fitting>. +1 from me to the above discussion though I'm late to the party. That is excellent news. The landscape seems very sparse with regard to genuine multi-user DAMs. I'm sure that a PRO version of PSU would receive very significant...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
Yeah that's roughly what I was thinking Tom. But it could go a bit smarter. What if... - No Sort is renamed to Manual Sort. Gives a much better idea to the user of what's happening. - The first time Manual Sort is entered for a particular collection your question gets asked. But only the first time....

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio
I'm OK with the idea of using Ctrl-arrows to move an image around. At least it always ends up where I expect, whereas in IDI it would not always land where it was dropped. From playing today with .145 I wonder whether the switch into 'No Sort' mode (which as Hert says is really 'Manual Sort' mode) c...

Re: Problem showing NEFs 'By Date'
Thanks for the extra details and the testing Tom. I have nothing to add except to note that I see the same as you. In other words, I cant find any reference to the date PSU is recording in either the NEF or the XMP file. I have no idea where PSU is getting that date from. On the PN side of life, I'v...

Re: Problem showing NEFs 'By Date'
OK, I did that but nothing changed. Even closed/reopened PSU but no change. I selected the image and opened 'Info'. The date shown there is the 19th. Also if I open 'Details' the 'Date Content Created' is the 19th. But if i use EXIFTOOL on the file I get the result below which correctly shows the 15...

Problem showing NEFs 'By Date'
I have a bad habit of shooting a bunch of NEFs and then forgetting about them - so the viewable JPGs never see the light of day. I had a bright idea that a quick way to fix this would be to view the catalog 'By Date'. Ideally I would see the NEFs shot on that date as well as the resultant JPGs, and ...

%yy-%mm-%dd_%exif:Model%code Input := StrTran (Input, 'Nikon D', 'D'); %/code_%exifmakernote:ShutterCount.%FileExtension one more renaming rule :) Thanks weidmic. Looks to me that renaming rules can be as simple or complex as required. Level 1 - just pick the required functions from the drop-downs ...
