Re: Different labels to paired photos?
Hi Mike, I wasn't trying to be dogmatic, just stating how I think about labels/keywords. I have no doubt Riecks & Hert both know more about image metadata than I ever will. I do read authorities, but then I make up my own mind how best to categorize images in a way that makes the most sense to me. A...

Re: Different labels to paired photos?
Mike, If that is how you organize your versions then I would say that you'd create a B/W version place holder. The architecture of version sets is that they *always* share catalog labels. When one's version sets don't match this definition then a different approach should be considered. Hert I thin...

Re: 10.6 vs 10.7 File locking
On reading Apple's discussion more closely, they seem to imply that apps have to be developed with auto save for this to work, so it may not apply to IDimager. Presumably, the documentation for the software development tools should have info about this that Hert can check.

Re: 10.6 vs 10.7 File locking
Hi Paul & Hert,
It's related to auto-save and versions features, new in Lion. Here's Apple's explanation, including how to turn it off (apparently, files are indeed locked after 2 weeks by default):

Re: Does IDimager Supreme work with referenced masters?
Hi Hert,
I think "referenced masters" is aperture-speak. It's pretty confusing:
http://documentation.apple.com/en/apert ... tasks=true
Let me know what it means when you figure it out.

Re: A Few Questions
The version 5 catalog can be converted to INE, but the INE catalog is not backward compatible in version 5, meaning that version 5 can't read the INE catalog. The PC and Mac versions of the INE catalog are binary compatible, meaning the catalog can be taken back and forth between the Mac and the PC ...

Re: Move and Copy
Hi Frith. I agree with you and like the fact that IDimager 5 for Windows has both a media browser and catalog explorer. Hert and his colleagues have apparently made the decision to simplify matters and dispense with the media browser. For what it's worth, this is the same approach taken by Lightroom...

Re: IDimager Public Beta for MacOSX
Hi Hert, I previously mentioned my two Mac user friends who are avid amateur photographers. I've now emailed them and encouraged them to try out the public beta: Hey guys. We've talked about DAM software in the past and I mentioned that I use IDimager. Currently, it's Windows only but there's a Mac ...
