Re: Path different between plattforms

Hi Richard, I have no pony in this race, but if you foreclose the option of using PSU, I think you may be denying yourself access to a fine product. This thread got me thinking about what it means to be cross platform, so let's do some brainstorming. An operating system is traditionally considered t...

Re: When do you delete photos on cards

Regarding being paranoid vs. culling of images directly from the source (card): if someone's really, really paranoid, shoudn't the culling (in whatever program) be avoided in the first place? That is, shouldn't it be deferred until the whole card content has been copied to a safe location first? I ...

Re: Using Photo Supreme Server with multiple computers

Hi Frank,

I've not done it but a program that does block-level synchronization might help. That way, large files can be kept in sync without copying the entire file, only the blocks that have changed. Take a look here:

Re: Write Portfolio info to images

Sorry for the question, but what is ICS? ICS stands for IDimager Core Schema and represents your metadata as written to your images by PSU. It contains image-specific information about your catalog and can be used to reconstruct the catalog if it ever becomes corrupt. As such, it can be considered ...

Re: How to use face detection

Does it come with false positives? There are false positives as well as false negatives, both under 5% (just a WAG). Very usable at that level of accuracy. Can it distinguish between identical twins? Doubt it, but my wife has identical twin cousins & I'll check it out. (Seriously, no it can't) :-) ...

Lots of compacts have face detection, but I don't think any have face recognition (unless it's in some post-processing software). What brand & model is you wife's camera?

Re: face annotation

Thanks for the heads-up, Hondor. What was the last version of picasa that didn't mess up maker notes or other metadata?

With this feature, is it possible to import the information generated by Google's Picasa face recognition?

Re: Photo Supreme, laptops, and multiple drives

How about using one 2 TB external harddisk connected through e-sata / usb3 / FireWire S3200 for storing the images, and the catalog on the internal SSD drive. Then you can use the travel mode when the external drive is not connected. This is precisely my setup (with usb3) and I can recommend it too...
