Re: Display order of Custom Input Fields in the Info Panel

Thanks for that. My craving for logical presentation of information is satisfied (for now).

Edit: of course if I were serious and consistent about that, I'd use an official BBCode smilie iinstead of :p

Re: Custom input fields + Versions + assignment = confusion

Hert, that's a good point and I hadn't thought of checking. I just had a look. Here's what I have: SyncSettings.jpg SyncSettingsRead.jpg Looking at the keywords section I suspect this is not best practice. (Actually I am slightly confused generally about what to do with the keyword settings. I will ...

Re: How to find all Versions without Placeholders?

Thanks for the update. I'll be trying it out sometime later this week.
(Then hopefully I'll remember to go back and edit that topic to note that this is fixed.)

Re: Custom input fields + Versions + assignment = confusion

Things seem to work much more consistently in offline mode - the changes apply only to the version whose thumbnail is shown. Or at least, that's the way it looks. Maybe what was happening before was that PSu was automatically starting to push out the field values to the files (although I never start...

Re: Custom input fields + Versions + assignment = confusion

OK, I just realised it seems that PSu is very slowly working through the list and assigning the values to the files one by one. PSu does not report any processes active - Activity (no processes) - but each time I search for files containing the values I just tried to assign, it finds more files. It ...

Custom input fields + Versions + assignment = confusion

I am experimenting with custom input fields. But I have a problem when assigning value to Versioned files and hopefully someone can help. Here's what I observe: Sometimes when I search for "Version Sets", and then select some or all thumbnails, and then apply a value to a custom input field, the val...

Display order of Custom Input Fields in the Info Panel

I have created several Custom Input Fields, and now I would like them to display in a specific order when I open the info panel. Unfortunately that's not the order in which I created them.

Is there a way to control the order in which Custom Input Fields are displayed in the Info Panel?

Re: How to find all Versions without Placeholders?

Hert, I'm sufficiently bothered by the feeling that all this doesn't quite get to where it should be, that I have worked up a fairly detailed suggestion for a broader implementation of Version Management. That suggestion is in the form of a hypothetical user manual for a future Photo Supreme. Not ev...

Re: How to find all Versions without Placeholders?

Hert, it's a good questions as to why these questions come up now. For myself ... the short answer: For the first time, the basic stuff works for me. Now Managed Versions have reached to the top of the list of key features that don’t work properly for me. Longer answer ... I never used IDI much (too...

Re: Version Placeholder search logic

Hert, I think we are coming at this from different perspectives. You're saying, let's imagine a user who just wants a simple way to look at all the version sets, or just wants a simple way to look at everything that's not versioned. He doesn't want to think about "Main Versions" vs "All Managed Vers...

Re: Version Placeholder search logic

How about this one, based on my tests just now. The search term Version Sets has one meaning when you include it, and a different meaning when you exclude it. Using an AND search - not that AND/OR should matter with a single search term (*): . Search for (Version Sets) and the result is all Main Ver...

Re: Version Placeholder search logic

Tom, the way Versions are implemented, anything which is a Main Version can not have a placeholder. As I understand Hert's logic, it's not actually a version, rather it's something different: it's the Base to which the Versions are attached. Since it's not a version, it can't have a placeholder. QED...

Re: Version Placeholder search logic

Hi Hert My 50 versions that I referred to are those files which are Managed Versions but are not Album Display Versions and are not Main Versions. They don't have any placeholder assigned to them. Of course each has a Main Version with which it is associated. I may have expressed myself badly. I did...

Re: Version Placeholder search logic

Still, I don't see this as being consistent with Search #1. And it breaks the logic of combining searches: Criterion 1 -> 634 results Criterion 2 -> 634 results Search 4 == Criterion 1 OR Criterion 2 -> 1318 results, ie includes results that were not in Search 1 or Search 2. I don't find this intuit...

Re: Version Placeholder search logic

Hi Hert The current implementation seems to treat the search term "Version Set" sometimes as a reference to Main Versions only (eg Search #1) and sometimes as a reference to All files in the Version Sets (eg Search #3). I would find it easier to understand as a user if there were two separate search...
