Re: How do I detect duplicates?

** OT - clopen sets etc ** Seeing the question took me back unexpectedly to my younger days; I once knew lots of set theory without having to think hard about it. More recently I've spent a lot of time developing and using stochastic cashflow projection models, and have rather wished I'd focussed on...

Re: How do I detect duplicates?

Thanks Hert, interesting commentary. I agree it is unlikely to find a coincidental file size match these days. Just for the record then, some older raw formats were standard sizes. For example, just checking for crw files on my local drive now, I find that I had many .crw files all at 9,219,600 byte...

Re: How do I detect duplicates?

** OT ** Gosh. I'm kinda hoping that Laura will now say that she has many Raw files all the same size, and we'll see some other weird scripts (although I admit I can't see how to use any part of this one in a more general context!) I had a slightly surreal Google experience just now when I googled "...

Re: how do you "just simply rename" an image?

... if you take Windows File Manager as the definitive example. Double click always opens . Click once to select; click (once) again in the selected name to edit-in-place. True ... although one could also mention that this is configurable (at least on my Win7 system). You can alternatively configur...

Re: Feature requests for PSU-V2

Hert, I would like to contribute a few ideas. They would be much more useful if presented carefully and in some detail, but so far I haven't had time to do that. (Over the last few months work has been a bit busy and I have not had time for the photographic hobby, hence my absence from the forum). I...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio

Drag/Drop thumbnails is used for Versioning. That is how it is implemented throughout the application. That is consistent. Giving double meaning to drag/drop thumbnails, which also depends on the context of the application (ONLY when you are in Portfolio collections) is not something I favor. I do ...

Re: Keywording Strategies

Yes, sorry for confusing terminology. I'm remembering the term "private" from the Label Category attribute which (I think) is still defined at the Category level only. Three separate questions then. (1) Assuming I'm remembering correctly that the "private" attribute exists for Label Categories, does...

Re: Keywording Strategies

So by looking at the ICS metadata in a file, can a third party can tell that the (private) label exists in the catalog?
And can they tell that it has been applied to this image?

Re: Keywording Strategies

I'm also very curious about this. Isn't there a "private" attribute for label categories? How does that interact with the setting to not create keywords at the individual label level? (Or am I remembering wrongly ... I'm away from home this week, and have my work PC rather than my home PC with me. S...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio

I very much welcome the ability to sort using the keyboard. I'm by nature a keyboard user and usually I would use that method (although sometimes I might prefer a mouse drag). However I do think that the majority of new users would be surprised by the behaviour when dragging a thumbnail, hence my su...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio

On reflection I think I wasn't clear. Try again: There are two ways to switch to Manual Sort Mode: by specifically invoking Manual Sort Mode through the view menu, or by moving a thumbnail when PSu is in another Sort Mode. A. If the user specifically switches to Manual Sort Mode , then the images re...

Re: Colour management setting (using two different monitors)

I'm thinking that this bit might have got forgotten in the banter: At the bottom of the Display Color Management subtab is the option to "Use color management to generate thumbs (slows down)" which has me concerned. [...] If the output profile is a display profile rather than a color space [...] the...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio

In addition to my suggestion for moving & versioning in the previous post ... What if... - No Sort is renamed to Manual Sort. Gives a much better idea to the user of what's happening. - The first time Manual Sort is entered for a particular collection your question gets asked. But only the first tim...

Re: custom order of thumbnails in a portfolio

Moving or Versioning ... do we really have to choose? Perhaps we could have both; it just depends whether you drop the thumbnail ON TOP OF another thumbnail or BETWEEN other thumbnails. The display can show what is about to happen. It would change from the versioning display to the manual sorting di...

Re: Colour management setting (using two different monitors)

BTW ... I hadn't seen those hover tips before. It turns out that the hover tip for the thumbnails always works, but the hover tips for the input profile and output profile only show when Display Colour Management is turned on. I hadn't realised I was missing anything. Now that I have looked at them ...
