Light table sends the wrong image to Photoshop ACR

From the collection viewer or from a preview, I can open an image in the Light Table. Once in the light table I can navigate to successive images, for example by using left or right arrows. Suppose I first go to the Light Table with image A. After a few left- or right- arrow presses, I'm now looking...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

*ahem* I admit to having been inconsistent over the years. Every system seemed like a good idea at the time ... Usually, there is a root to the filename which is the same across all versions. Usually, it's yyyymmdd hhmmss, unless it's yyyymmdd ##### or yyyymmdd ### or something else ... Usually the ...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

Just to add one more thing (in case someone is busy thinking up solutions to the wrong problem) - my folder structures are not actually parallel. The originals are in folders by date of capture (with quite a lot of tweaking to the structure for various reasons; whereas derivatives are in a separate ...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

Mike, I agree that logically I should finish the task in IDI5 before migrating. And at this stage it would be easy to go back. Except that ... I can't quite face going back to things like having to close and reopen IDI after most operations to ensure that the next selection of files via labels will ...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

Lippe, I guess if I am associating files manually I can still do it one file at a time by dragging files onto other files in the collection viewer to create version sets. But really, the manual approach doesn't appeal to me! My style is always to automate ... because I know I am too lazy to keep a m...

Re: Where is the help for the scripter?

It does look as if almost anything would be possible, given a proper understanding. But I don't think there's enough documentation or examples (there are only 3 existing scripts, as far as I can see) to get me to the point of sufficient understanding to write a novel script. Oh well ... I'm now goin...

Where is the help for the scripter?

A number of mentions have been made that extended functionality is available via the scripter. The availability of the scripter might address some of my concerns about limits on functionality as I could write something that handles files "my way". I would be willing to have a look at this, but I don...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

Mike, you said I am extremely interested in the use of versioning in Supreme, so I wonder whether you have been able to find reasonable workarounds that meet your needs. I ask because I believe, at least theoretically, the current implementation of versioning when combined with slight revisions to m...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

I found it quite odd at first to see in the view for Catalog "by version placeholder" that the options were - Version sets - Album Display - Camera jpg - etc I really had to stop and question what it could mean and how it might relate to how I think about versions. "Version sets" seemed - and still ...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

I would also agree that when versioning on import logically it will usually make sense to me for the image already in the database to be the main image. And usually, versioning could be done on import. Although I don't really want to alter my file management to get versions in folders below the main...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

Mike, you're right that this is a workaround. (I am famous in my workplace for finding ways to work around system requirements; so this word doesn't shock me. ) I think that the system which Hert has implemented may not always work for me, but I am still thinking about it. I agree that my sug...

Re: Versioning controlled by labels

I don't think I explained myself properly, since responses so far seem to miss my point. It's all very well saying "Ask Hert to write a script". But you still have to define exactly what the script will do. I am trying to think about "How should the advanced versioning work, once it is invoked?" I d...

Versioning controlled by labels

I have been reading the discussions about versioning, and thinking about how this could be made generic. I think versioning really is inherently complicated, and anybody who has an opinion on how it should be used will have their own preferences on workflow. So a general approach is needed which can...

Re: Verify folder --> Version detection: instructions?

Thanks Hert, I hadn't thought of compacting after this operation. As it happens I already found the Compact command, even though it's (unintuitively for me) in Preferences. ;-) In the meantime, while waiting for the index to rebuild (which I assume is what "not responding" means), I have no excuses ...
